Peut-Etre

I had a bit of a problem writing this post today. Not because I didn’t know what to talk about but because I had too much to talk about. I found it hard to narrow down everything that is going on in my head – from the Paris attacks, to a new direction, french sweatshirts, and boobs. Yup, boobs! And that is where I decided to land. Every woman has them! They come in all shapes and sizes and stay with us for life. Oh boy (sarcasm)! Lately I have been on a hate rampage against them. You know that “all shapes and sizes” thing? Ya, well mine are the size of f*&%&*@ watermelons. Lucky me, right? Wrong! They are impossible to dress and add about 15lbs to any look. I always tell people the only time I like them is when I want to feel “sexy.” And as much as they work for “sexy,” they equally don’t work for fashion. But I am stuck with them and they are stuck with me so it is about time I embrace!

Ways I have learned to dress with boobs – V-necks, layers, and a really good bra! Layers you say? oh yes! Take this Thakoon Addition shirt dress. It looks best buttoned all the way to the top, which is a total no-go for chesty girls. I mean, how hard is it to find a damn blouse that buttons without pulling? The solution is always to size-up which makes the rest of the blouse, well, too blousy! The struggle is real and so damn frustrating! Okay, back to the layers. We have a button-up but it might pull, so what do we do? We add a layer. Putting a fitted sweater over the blouse, or in this case a dress, pulls the look together, hides the imperfections, and with the tips of the collar tucked out adds a nice and narrow silhouette. I swear my fellow busty gals, try it! Just make sure the tips of the collar point out so you create the tailored and polished look. Also – you can wear a basic sweater (which I also recommend) or make it cool and add print. What is hottest right now? French. Just be sure the sweater can fit over the blouse comfortably so the words aren’t stretched! Yes, this is a real problem! Bonne Chance!

Master Bedroom Decor

As promised this year on STTS there will be more lifestyle posts. And where better to start than the master bedroom? I must admit this makes me a bit nervous. Have you ever said you were going to do something and when the time comes and you regret your decision because it is completely outside of your comfort zone? That is what is happening to me now! I have shared personal pictures in the past, from my wedding and even my home, but something about opening up my bedroom for the world to judge absolutely terrifies me. So be kind! Just kidding… but not really.

My master is a work in progress. Master bedrooms are suppose to be warm, cozy – your sanctuary. Let me be honest, ours is a work in progress. Our master is very large which makes the “warm and cozy” part very difficult. It has taken over a year and a half to get the bedroom to the point it is now and I still have a lot more ideas. However, the progress is positive. Taking a large room and filling the spaces without over cluttering can be a challenge. I moved into the house after my husband had furnished it and while he did an amazing job it is the accessories that we have accumulated which pull it all together. His style is modern, minimalist, and clean so taking that “canvas” and turning it into a warm and cozy space has had its fair share of challenges. He has been extremely helpful and encouraging through the process but having no interior decorating background, the “trial and error” can make even the calmest person annoyed. However, there is one thing you can always count on to make a bedroom more enjoyable – the bedding.

Biscuit Bedding is just about my favorite place in the world! Their unique and original designs pack a punch without going overboard. Not only are they incredibly badass but they are also extremely soft! The hubs and I are completely smitten. Another item I just added, as in a few days ago, were the pictures hanging above our bed. I hate having photos of me and the hubs everywhere. It just feels weird to look around and see yourself every where. However, the hubs always asked why we didn’t have one photo of us, so for Christmas that is one of the things he received – framed photos of us on our travels. I knew I wanted them to fill the empty space above our bed so it was a win/win for the both of us. I have actually held off filling that space for almost two years now because I am dying to put a neon sign spelling out, “oui oui,” above it but I haven’t been able to find the right people to make it. So until then photos it is! I actually really like them as they add the perfect personal touch to the room and fill the space very cleanly.

Overall I am quite pleased. I do have a few more things I am dying to do but the one thing I have learned about interior decorating, it is a slow process. Cheers to the process!

Travel Essentials

travel-essentials0-1-5

Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera – I love this Polaroid camera! I brought it on my trip to Europe this summer and captured really fun memories! The Polaroid’s are a great throwback to years past and also a fun and different way to capture memories! I definitely still bring my “real” camera but to spice up the photos I always have this in my bag!

Beautycounter Lustro Face Oil – My skin goes crazy on trips so I always try to stay consistent with my beauty routine. Since traveling completely strips your skin of hydration I am always sure to pack this face oil. It keeps my skin nourished and beautiful. I also love that it is 100% natural! Read about the founder, Gregg, here.

EOS Lip Balm – I have always been a chapstick junkie. There is nothing worse than dry lips. And like your skin, your lips need extra hydration too. I actually just received EOS over Christmas and am officially obsessed! I will never go back to another balm again. It is smooth, easy to apply, lasts forever, and actually hydrates your lips. After using it you will be able to tell a big difference.

Jack Black EPICMOISTURE Oil, Face and Body Wash, and Face Hydration + SPF – I am a sucker for Jack Black products. I am a new fan of theirs after discovering them a few months ago but they are one to keep in your mind. When I use their body products I know my skin is going to be transformed when I wake up. My dry winter skin is completely changed after using their lotions! I have a few of their carry-on sizes that I always make sure are in my bag! They just work. Plain and simple.

Ray Ban Aviator Sunglasses in Black – Because everyone needs badass sunglasses not only when they travel but every day. And who makes cooler sunnies than Ray Ban? Absolutely No one.

Up Jawbone – I tend to walk  a lot when I travel! Because there is no better way to see and learn about a city than to walk it. As a reward at the end of the day I plug my Jawbone in and see just how many miles and calories I burned.

Daniel Wellington Classic St. Andrews – I think a watch is so much better than an iphone. Isn’t it sexier to look down and read a watch over pulling out your cell? I love classics and this watch has it all! I wear it daily so it is only fitting it travels with me too!

Apple Ipad – Mainly this is for your ride to-and-from but it is always nice to have something to unwind with in your hotel. Just make sure to download any games, apps, or movies before you leave!

Conde Nast Traveler – A.K.A. my travel bible. I have such admiration and respect for the people over at Traveler. They do such an amazing job with their content and always inspire me to keep going! If you are ever in a funk, just buy the recent issue of CN Traveler and I promise, you will pack your bags and go!
