During NYC Fashion Week one of my favorite things I did was attend Mackenzie Horan’s, Design Darling blogger brunch. Mackenzie is such an amazing person! With her witty sense of humor, kindness, and entrepreneurial spirit, she is extremely inspiring. Coming from two parents who are very entrepreneurial I have always respected and admired these types of people. Since I respect the hard work that goes into running your own business, one of my favorite things I get to do as a blogger is support small business.

Supporting small business is easy when they are as amazing as Mackenzie’s boutique, Design Darling. So that I don’t continue to gush this entire post, (we know how I love to “over love” my fellow bloggers), I thought I would share some of my favorite pieces from her boutique so you can see for yourself how amazing everything is. You are sure to always find something you love either for yourself or as a gift for someone else. It is my first place I go to when I want to find something unique, cute, cool, and trendy.

Looking for some new blogs to read?
Here is a list of other bloggers who attended the brunch (what a powerful/talented group of ladies)

Lovers + Friends Leather Track pants (now on sale), Everlane Silk blouse, Zara jacket, Christian Louboutin Pigalle heels, Ray Ban sunnies, Marni bracelet (not available online yet but similar here), Chelsea Charles bracelet, Dana Rebecca Lauren Joy + Sylvie Rose necklace

For the longest time I have wanted a monochromatic, winter white, outfit. I searched and searched for wide-leg white pants for fashion week, but epically failed. There is something so classic, chic, and clean about an all over white look. I had this vision of wide-legged pants, a white button-up, light blue leather bomber jacket, and very simple heels. This look will have to wait because it was near impossible to find. I always get certain ideas in my head and am utterly disappointed when I can’t mimic the exact image. It must be that obsessive quality I’ve talked about.

While browsing the web for those elusive wide-leg pants I stumbled upon these amazing perforated leather track pants. They were so cool and extremely reasonable in price, I knew I couldn’t pass them up. And since I was days away from fashion week and having to move to plan B for my winter white look, I figured these would be the next best option. And they were. I can’t even describe my love for these pants. I swear everything always works out in the end because these are cooler than any wide-leg pant I had envisioned. I will also wear these a million more times than what I had originally wanted. Sometimes when buying faux leather you never know how it is going to look in real life. You take a huge gamble on the quality, feel and look of the item. These were better than I could have imagined. They look like real leather and move like it too! I am extremely impressed with Lovers + Friends after purchasing a few items from them. They are definitely the next designer, “on my radar.” These pants will be making the rounds on Molly and I’s upcoming travel, so stay tuned!

Fashion Week Detox

I am finally back in Dallas from NY fashion week (I hope you followed along via Instagram). What a whirlwind. A very fun whirlwind, but a whirlwind. I am taking the day off to catch up on reading, snuggle with my dog, unpack, do some laundry and get ready for my next travel destination! Molly and I leave this Saturday for our overseas travels. I can’t believe it is already upon us! I am getting so excited!!

Over the past few days all of us girls (MollySally, and Amy) had some amazing chats about topics much deeper than fashion. One that hit home for all of us was how lucky we were to have each other; a core group of friends. After college all of my best friends moved away and I felt so alone. The ones that did stay were either busy chasing their dreams in graduate school, traveling, or found work friends to fill in the spaces. I felt so lost and was in a really dark place. When I am in this place I instantly blame the city or surroundings I am in. From that point on I planted the “I hate Dallas,” seed. It was there for quite a few years. I swore it was the city that was making me unhappy so I dreamed of other places to live; Paris, London, San Fran. Anywhere but Dallas. Fast forward a few years and I am now more than content in Dallas. It wasn’t the place I was living but the people (or lack there of) that I was surrounding myself with. After this past fashion week, I have really come to realize that I am so lucky to find a group of girls I love being around so much. It took longer than I would have liked but I finally feel so comfortable and relaxed knowing I have good (and extremely fun) people around me. I can’t say that I still don’t dream of moving to London or Paris, but that is why we have travel. Right?!
