Cafe Charlot:
I have always been fascinated by photography. I have spent countless hours studying photographs of people, while considering the angles, the lighting, and the editing the photographer used. I love the fact that photography has the amazing ability to transport us to a different time, or place with one single shot.
It was not until I started blogging that I decided to take photography more seriously. With camera in hand, I started experimenting with photographs of my apartment, of friends, and family. It was after experimenting in this way that I realized my passion for photography. I have no formal training or background in this field, but I realize that passion can open your eyes to the impossible, so not only did I invest in the proper equipment I also spent the necessary time to learn everything I could to enhance the skill it takes to be proficient with this passion.
I enjoy, and appreciate the opportunity to photograph bloggers, couples, influencers who make an impact in their profession, families, and also lifestyle type setting. I take an individual approach to each person I photograph. I make every effort to embrace and highlight the focus of what they are trying to convey to their audience with each session.
I look forward to working together and capturing the potential magnificence of your moments through my eyes and the lens of my camera.

I know what you are thinking, “you look seriously cold.” And I won’t lie when I say, it was freezing! Growing up in Texas I never had a super warm coat. I don’t mean that to sound like I was deprived, because I wasn’t. I mean, I literally only had those fashionable wool coats that I only thought were warm. We didn’t need much in Texas to stay warm as the average winter temperature is only around 50. I thought I was good to go for my winter adventure with just my Sezane Johnson coat. Now I look back and laugh.
It weren’t for my local shop, Saint Bernard Sport, who described just how cold it would be and helped me find the perfect coat to keep me warm I think I would be covered with frostbite right now. I have already told you how amazingly perfect my Canada Goose coat was (here and here) but what I want to share with you now is the power of having a great coat. I don’t think you need a ton of options as most of our climates don’t get that cold but I do think investing in at least one warm jacket is a smart call. A lot of my readers are not in these super frigid climates so I have found a bundle (pun intended) of options for all climates. However, having one of those frigid climate coats handy could be a smart call. A traveller never knows where the next adventure is 🙂

There were only a few things I knew about Saint Petersburg before heading there this past winter. One: it is cold. Two: it is really cold. Three: some WWII history. And four: they have a beautiful and very colorful cathedral. This cathedral is known as Savior on the Spilled Blood. A name given to it for its messy past. I had seen photos of this cathedral for years – in my history books, in travel magazines, and online. Seeing it in person was always something I wanted to do but never knew when I would actually do it. When my in-laws told my husband to choose between Istanbul and Russia for our holiday, I immediately said Russia!
It wasn’t that I am not dying to see Istanbul but something about Russia has always been intriguing to me and I knew now was the time! After arriving in Saint Petersburg, getting settled in and meeting our tour guide we headed to the famous cathedral! Seeing it in person is a really surreal moment. It is like seeing that photo you have seen a million times but now it has come to life. I remember just standing on the bridge and staring at its beauty for a solid 15 minutes just trying to take it all in. That is what I love so much about travel – getting these types of experiences. Seeing something in person you have previously only viewed from the pages of a book. It is such an incredible feeling and one that keeps the travel bug inside me alive!
While the outside is absolutely breathtaking it was the inside that stole the show! I will be sharing those photos later on so for now enjoy the famous Savior on the Spilled Blood Cathedral!
