I have always been fascinated by photography. I have spent countless hours studying photographs of people, while considering the angles, the lighting, and the editing the photographer used. I love the fact that photography has the amazing ability to transport us to a different time, or place with one single shot.
It was not until I started blogging that I decided to take photography more seriously. With camera in hand, I started experimenting with photographs of my apartment, of friends, and family. It was after experimenting in this way that I realized my passion for photography. I have no formal training or background in this field, but I realize that passion can open your eyes to the impossible, so not only did I invest in the proper equipment I also spent the necessary time to learn everything I could to enhance the skill it takes to be proficient with this passion.
I enjoy, and appreciate the opportunity to photograph bloggers, couples, influencers who make an impact in their profession, families, and also lifestyle type setting. I take an individual approach to each person I photograph. I make every effort to embrace and highlight the focus of what they are trying to convey to their audience with each session.
I look forward to working together and capturing the potential magnificence of your moments through my eyes and the lens of my camera.
I know what you are thinking, “you look seriously cold.” And I won’t lie when I say, it was freezing! Growing up in Texas I never had a super warm coat. I don’t mean that to sound like I was deprived, because I wasn’t. I mean, I literally only had those fashionable wool coats that I only thought were warm. We didn’t need much in Texas to stay warm as the average winter temperature is only around 50. I thought I was good to go for my winter adventure with just my Sezane Johnson coat. Now I look back and laugh.
It weren’t for my local shop, Saint Bernard Sport, who described just how cold it would be and helped me find the perfect coat to keep me warm I think I would be covered with frostbite right now. I have already told you how amazingly perfect my Canada Goose coat was (here and here) but what I want to share with you now is the power of having a great coat. I don’t think you need a ton of options as most of our climates don’t get that cold but I do think investing in at least one warm jacket is a smart call. A lot of my readers are not in these super frigid climates so I have found a bundle (pun intended) of options for all climates. However, having one of those frigid climate coats handy could be a smart call. A traveller never knows where the next adventure is 🙂
My Coat Selection:
By far one of my favorite jackets on the list! This short jacket would be perfect under a jacket or to grab drinks with friends! So chic and under $60
The coloring and material of this Mountain Hardware coat make it a more fashionable choice. I would love to wear it with black jeans or leather pants!
A little more expensive option but I had to include it! Does a winter coat get more beautiful than this?
Barbour is a great staple for any closet and the wax coating on this one makes it a standout
The reputation of Columbia should be enough to make you buy one but the price of this coat make it a tough competitor. It is such a classic choice and would go with anything in your closet
For those cooler days where a heavy coat isn’t necessary I always love having a jacket like this handy. It goes great by itself or layered under a jacket (this is also a great option)
Vest like this one are another great option to have around. Wear them over a turtleneck for a chic apré ski look or under a coat for extra warmth
I absolutely love this Kjus jacket! I was very close to purchasing it in store! It is so sleek and creates a beautiful waist, even over all those bulky clothes
When we were planning our holiday travel Geneva was the only certainty. Since my in-laws all live there it is tradition to go and celebrate the holidays with them. The other certainty you can usually count on is that it will be really cold. This year we planned our trip around four of the coldest countries – Switzerland, Russia, Finland, and Sweden. Knowing I was going to experience temperatures well into the negatives I wanted a coat I could count on to keep this born and raised Texan, warm.
My family were not huge skiers. My mom much preferred vacations with lots of Vitamin D so I never accumulated a wardrobe suited for snow and below freezing temps. The heaviest jacket I own is a wool peacoat which mean I had to make an investment into a new wardrobe. I researched and researched for the best gear and decided a Canada Goose was the best choice for me. So off I went to the best place to buy winter gear, St. Bernard Sport. I settled on the Canada Goose Trillium Down Parka as it was sleek, hip, and could stand temps as low as -30. The coyote hood is also adjustable and is ethically sourced through Canada regulations, which I loved! An interesting fact on Canada Goose jackets is the fur will be different colors depending on each season and the amount of snow fall. My hood has some great fluff and whit, meaning the coyote had to really camouflage in the cold winter! I don’t know why, but that is one of my favorite things about my jacket.
If you are looking for a cold weather jacket seriously consider investing in a Canada Goose. They make the very best jackets as everything is meant to keep wind out and you insulated and warm. Every jacket is handmade in Canada and are hand stitched and then filled with a machine that measures the down by volume instead of weight so each parka has the perfect level of insulation. They will last you a lifetime and I guarantee you will be one of the sleekest on the mountain!

For over a year now I have been lusting over the Stuart Weitzman Highland boot. However, spending upwards of $900 (after tax and shipping) seemed a bit excessive. I know I preach buying quality over quantity but with all the travel I have planned, $900 was not in the budget. So like I usually do when I can’t afford something, I search. My first stop was Ebay, however they were the same price there as they were in the store so I moved on. I then looked and looked for similar styles, only to be very disappointed by the quality, shaft height, or price. I didn’t want a $50 boot that would only last one season so I grew frustrated when all I could find were $50-$100 boots or $1000+ boots. There had to be something in the middle that was simple and a true over-the-knee. I am not kidding you when I say I searched for at least a month for something only to turn up empty handed. But then… I found it!
Ted & Muffy is described as a luxury British heritage footwear line. I had not heard of them yet so was very intrigued by their selection. After doing research and comparing them with other well-known luxury brands I was was really impressed. Not only was the quality of the boots similar but the price was exactly what I had been looking for. And better yet, they had a boot called The Empress, that looked almost identical to the boot I had in my mind for the past year. I really believe, if you are patient it always works out (and often times better than you could have imagined). I know we are talking about a boot but I take my shoes very seriously and this was absolutely the boot I had been waiting for.
Now the true test, once it arrived in the mail would it be as perfect in person? Would the suede be beautiful? Would it be comfortable? Would it look like a $1000K boot for a fraction of the cost? And the answer: yes, yes, yes, and yes! The boot is an absolute stunner in person! I have been stopped numerous times in the street and asked, “who makes that boot?” And being someone who likes to be different and not have what everyone else has I proudly say, Ted & Muffy! I can’t speak highly enough about the boot or the brand, all I can do is recommend you trying them for yourself! The boot arrived really fast so if you are worried about shipping from overseas I wouldn’t think twice!
