Inspiring People Wanted

I know you are probably looking at this picture and thinking, “what the… isn’t this a fashion blog?” To that, yes it is, and it always will be but I am also a 25 year old trying to figure out life. Yes, life. I know you are rolling your eyes right now thinking, “Oh no, not this kind of post. Someone else ‘trying’ to figure out life–uhg.” Now, hold your horses, this isn’t that kind of post–just keep reading.
My favorite part about fashion and blogging is that they allow you to be inspired. When featured on various blogs I’m often asked, “where do you get your inspiration from?”  and my answer is always the same; every day people. I find that every day people, whether it’s through their clothes, actions, or artistry, provide an incredible amount of inspiration.
Now, back to being 25. Sometimes it is so hard to know what it is you are suppose to be doing, want to be doing, and should be doing. That little voice inside will tell you what you love but reality makes it seem impossible to grasp. Everyone always tells you to, “chase your dreams and don’t stop until you reach them.” I love hearing this but sometimes I find it overwhelming. Because of this, I felt compelled to start the series, M.A.S. Interview’s. This will be a feature of someone I find inspiring and think you should know. Every person I have lined up has listened to that little voice inside and followed their passions and dreams. I hope you enjoy this new addition and get inspired along the way.

Engagement Shoot Inspiration

In the next few days I have my engagement photo shoot. I originally planned to nix them all together as I found them (no offense) rather cheesy. I know I “pose” for pictures on my blog but something about two people standing there looking at the camera trying to be normal while holding hands or standing in front of a red brick wall is just soooo awkward.  It might be all personal but I just have never been a fan of couples pictures. Well since my amazing wedding planner told me that the engagement pictures were included in the photo package I bought I decided we would do them and keep them only for ourselves.
I am super cautious to do anything that is “stereotypical” wedding. I want mine, like every bride I know, to be personal and “us.” To assure that we accomplish those two things in our shoot I emailed my sweet photographer these exact photos and told her I don’t want anything that is posed or forced. I want more editorial and something we can look back on and smile. She immediately wrote back and said, “yes I love that. We are totally on the same page. It is more about capturing this ‘cute moment’ instead of ‘lets pose for this moment and try and make it look cute.'” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
I know I am probably setting up a big hole to fall into telling someone I want editorial  as I know it is easier said than done but we will do our best. We are going to have a blast and make the most of the day (with a few cocktails, of course. nothing like a little liquid courage).  I know whatever we end up with will be perfect as I will be getting to spend quality time with my fiance and we can look back on them and smile no matter what they look like but selfishly I do hope we can capture the same organic feel in these pictures.

Biscuit Opening

This past weekend my friend Molly asked me to go to Houston for the opening of “Biscuit.” While there I had the pleasure of getting to know the owner, Bailey, of the blog Peppermint Bliss and one hell of an interior decorator. You should see her house! No, seriously, it is insane!

She opened Biscuit, a home store that offers quality printed bedding at a reasonable price,  this past month and it is already bustling with people waiting to snag something. I for one loved the Texas themed print wall paper as well as the splatter paint fabric and the jewelry. The event was so much fun and the room was filled with amazing (I got to meet Gray Malin) and friendly people. Bailey served the most adorable food that included “green eggs and ham biscuits,” “sweetie pie pop biscuits,” and “cheesecake biscuits.” I was so impressed by the amount of detail that went into the party but more importantly the store. Every corner was filled with a piece of furniture styled with the most amazing fabrics. I left feeling really inspired and ready to re-do my bedding.

Check out Biscuit next time you are in Houston or check out the beautiful website now.

The amazing and customizable splatter paint print

Look how amazing this Texas print is. It would be amazing in a powder room.
Gray Malin photos hung on every wall
Molly and I quickly fell in love with all of the jewelry
Everyone having a blast mingling and eating the delicious and adorable snacks. Oh did I mention she served jalepeno infused tequila. It was delicious and I don’t even like tequila.
I fell head over heels for this gold chandelier. Anything gold I love (Gold Rush)
Cheesecake biscuits. As delicious as they look!
Ended the night with a great little gift bag.

Lastly, be sure to check out Gray Malins super cute video of this weekend in Houston and the Biscuit opening!
