Here Comes the Sun

Wether you like it or not summer is around the corner. I straddle both sides: I love the vitamin D but hate the Texas heat. No lie, summer in Dallas feels like an egg in a frying pan. You literally melt. I mean, melt! However, in-between the “it is so cold I want to die” and “it is so hot I am going to melt” there is a period of the most glorious weather. That period is now. We have been experiencing 70 and sunny which only means one thing – Yellow! Whenever the weather is beautiful I want to wear yellow. It is a happy color which is always appropriate! Because I felt the weather shifting I went out and purchased these Zara Cropped pants to wear throughout spring. Wouldn’t they look great with a pair of heels and white t-shirt? Since I was on the hunt for yellow at a bargain I stumbled upon this dress (which I bought), this shift dress and this beach cover-up. So wether we are ready or not – Here Comes The Sun!

Closet Staples – The Jumpsuit

I don’t want to start this post out negatively but UGH, my closet has really been uninspiring lately. I walk in, look around, and reach for the same t-shirt and jeans I always wear. I don’t know if it is that I am not ready for summer (body-wise) or that I am just really sick of everything in my closet, but the struggle has been real. Since I really only wear a few pieces, I have been on a mission to clean out and sell anything that I do not wear. I haven’t updated my closet staples in a few years so my plan is to take the money and invest in updating those key pieces every closet needs.

One of the pieces I have been obsessed with updating has been the jumpsuit. I live for jumpsuits. They are as easy as a dress but oftentimes sleeker, as they are more unexpected. There is something so confident about a girl in a jumpsuit. A well-tailored jumpsuit is like a super hero cape for a woman. She could literally take on the world – at least, that is what I think when I see a woman wearing one. She just looks like a boss!

There are two types of jumpsuits every closet/woman needs: the dressy jumpsuit and the casual jumpsuit. Since summer is right around the corner, I decided to start my search for the casual jumpsuit – which, in my opinion, is one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. Since I saw a beautiful selection of summer pieces while shopping with my mother-in-law last week at Neiman Marcus, I decided to start there. It was a smart choice. They have such a well-curated selection of summer staples. I was like a kid in a candy store. I love the way Neiman Marcus does summer – light, feminine, but not over-the-top floral/girly. They do have those pieces but for the girls out there like me, who want great basic/cool pieces for summer, Neiman Marcus is perfect!

When I first saw this Splendid jumpsuit I knew it was going to be the one. I am obsessed with two things right now – blazers and stripes. Paris is clearly on the brain. But it was something about the effortless and casual appeal it had even while sitting on the hanger. After trying it on my feelings of love were validated. It was the perfect summer jumpsuit. While the jumpsuit definitely has a more casual feel, I felt like I could easily dress it up if I needed to. Win/win for the bank account!

I am so pleased with my decision to head to Neiman Marcus as it has now provided the perfect summer jumpsuit/closet staple for years to come. I plan to wear this to brunches, walking the streets of Paris, and heading out to a girls’ night dinner. You can easily change the feel of the jumpsuit by adding different blazers, jewelry, hats, or shoes. I hope it has inspired you to update your jumpsuit needs! And don’t worry – if jumpsuits aren’t your thing, Neiman Marcus has a gorgeous selection of maxi dresses as well – which is the perfect alternative for a casual jumpsuit. And with that, we are now ready for you, summer!

Dallas Blogger Panel

I have received a good amount of e-mails from people over the years asking how to get started in blogging. I actually received so many, that after much consideration, I decided to start a blogging consulting business. I felt like my background working in blogging, social media, and with an affiliate network gave me enough experience to be able to lend a helping hand to those in need. From that, M.A.S. Consulting was born. I absolutely loved getting to meet you and help you start and grow your blog. I felt like I was really helping you propel your dreams forward. However, once the photography started taking off I had to make a decision on which one to keep and which one to let go. Over the years I have learned you can’t do it all. You must make decisions/sacrifices to be able to dedicate the amount of time it takes to fully grow a business and nurture your passions. Since I have a love for photography, I decided to dedicate my time there.

After a few months of slowing down the consulting side (I still keep a few clients) I continue to receive e-mails from readers who want to know the basics. I am happy to help and am also very humbled that you think to ask me. I still believe my mom is the only one who reads my blog so to have someone ask for my help is an amazing feeling. However, since choosing photography I feel badly I can’t dedicate as much time as I would like for each e-mail I receive. I genuinely wish I could hold all of your hands through the entire process and be your “go-to” person,  but there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do it all. That being said, a few months ago I was asked by the Dallas Blogger Collective to be on a blog “speed dating panel” where bloggers get five minutes with each person (brands, pr firms, bloggers, etc.) to pick our brains. Since I was receiving a decent amount of e-mails from readers asking questions about blogging and how to grow your blog I decided to say yes to the panel. Which I am really excited about and I can’t wait to meet all of you!

If you are in Dallas this evening from 6-8pm I hope you can join me and a panel of other amazing influencers. You have around 5 minutes to pick each of our brains which will hopefully inspire you and help answer all of your questions.

When – Tonight, April 16h

Where – ALTO 211 – Dallas, TX

Time – 6:30-8:30pm

I look forward to seeing you there!
