For over a year now I have been lusting over the Stuart Weitzman Highland boot. However, spending upwards of $900 (after tax and shipping) seemed a bit excessive. I know I preach buying quality over quantity but with all the travel I have planned, $900 was not in the budget. So like I usually do when I can’t afford something, I search. My first stop was Ebay, however they were the same price there as they were in the store so I moved on. I then looked and looked for similar styles, only to be very disappointed by the quality, shaft height, or price. I didn’t want a $50 boot that would only last one season so I grew frustrated when all I could find were $50-$100 boots or $1000+ boots. There had to be something in the middle that was simple and a true over-the-knee. I am not kidding you when I say I searched for at least a month for something only to turn up empty handed. But then… I found it!

Ted & Muffy is described as a luxury British heritage footwear line. I had not heard of them yet so was very intrigued by their selection. After doing research and comparing them with other well-known luxury brands I was was really impressed. Not only was the quality of the boots similar but the price was exactly what I had been looking for. And better yet, they had a boot called The Empress, that looked almost identical to the boot I had in my mind for the past year. I really believe, if you are patient it always works out (and often times better than you could have imagined). I know we are talking about a boot but I take my shoes very seriously and this was absolutely the boot I had been waiting for.

Now the true test, once it arrived in the mail would it be as perfect in person? Would the suede be beautiful? Would it be comfortable? Would it look like a $1000K boot for a fraction of the cost? And the answer: yes, yes, yes, and yes! The boot is an absolute stunner in person! I have been stopped numerous times in the street and asked, “who makes that boot?” And being someone who likes to be different and not have what everyone else has I proudly say, Ted & Muffy! I can’t speak highly enough about the boot or the brand, all I can do is recommend you trying them for yourself! The boot arrived really fast so if you are worried about shipping from overseas I wouldn’t think twice!

Havana Cuba in Photos

The number one question I get asked the most about Cuba, “What was your favorite part?” And it is simple – The streets. Since there is no internet, or many phones or T.V.’s for that matter, everyone congregates in the streets. Either they are down below enjoying in a conversation or a game of marbles or they are watching from their balconies above, laughing with their neighbors. There is such an undeniable energy in the streets of Havana. Although the buildings are falling apart and they go without a lot of our modern day conveniences, music is always playing and you are sure to find smiles on the faces of those around you. It was infectious. Since we rented an Airbnb (we did this one and I highly recommend it), our mornings were spent sitting on our balcony and enjoying watching Havana come to life.

On our last morning I woke up pretty early. I was able to catch a beautiful sunrise coming over the city. Below, it was quite except for the street sweeper. He would sweep the street debris into small piles and then come back and sweep it all into a large pile. He had gotten about half way when a man started walking down the street to work. Hola! Was all I heard. Then a woman came out and clipped her laundry on the racks outside. Next were two younger men having a chat in the street then called up to the balcony above for their friend to come down. Havana was waking up and it was the coolest thing to see! It sounds crazy but have you ever watched a city come to life? It is incredible and something I won’t forget!

So until you make your way to Havana (go soon so you can enjoy the same type of authentic streets) I hope you enjoy your ride through, “The Streets of Havana.”

Easy like Sunday morning! Actually, that was exactly what this outfit was. Between a photoshoot for a client, walking the dog, and running Christmas errands with the husband we snapped this outfit. I wanted to show an easy outfit for running around town in. And one I actually wear running around town! Not one of those outfits you see on other blogs where it looks like they spent hours getting ready just to go to the grocery store. This is not that kind of website. My theory – all you need is a black and white striped shirt (and this one from The Fifth label is now $30)! The actual shirt is so soft and light that I have been wearing it under sweaters, blazers, and with leather pants and jeans. The poor thing arrived last week and I have already worn the s*&$ out of it! The holiday season is busy enough, don’t waste time thinking about what to wear! Just throw a stripe on! Although the husband did ask if I was playing dress-up as a “prison escapee.” Ugh, men!
