Holiday Card With Janie + Jack

Holiday cards are stressful. At least for me. Getting everyone dressed and ready, dealing with a toddler who didn’t want to wear her bow, shoes, or any of the beautiful accessories I picked out from Janie + Jack, and then trying to get a 4 month old and 2 year old to smile on cue. Oh, and Dallas had a heatwave so it was 98 degrees. Let’s just say, I needed a good cry sesh and a glass of wine afterwards. However, as my mom said, these are the moments you will look back on and smile. I know she is right but my lord, why do they need to be so difficult?

The one thing I was beyond grateful that I did was to buy the girls matching dresses weeks in advance. I turned to one of my favorite shops, Janie + Jack. Knowing that their outfits were decided on and would look so cute gave me such peace of mind leading up to the photoshoot. When I was looking for their outfits I wanted them to be similar, beautiful, and wearable. Wearable you might ask? Well, there are a lot of holiday parties coming up and I wanted something that Eleanor could look really cute in, be able to enjoy running around and playing with her friends, and me not being stressed out the entire time she was about to ruin a $$$ outfit. I wanted the outfit to look $$$, but not be $$$.

This is where my love of Janie + Jack comes in. I have purchased their items non-stop since finding out I was pregnant with Eleanor in 2017. They are one of my go-to shops.  Their items are of amazing quality and look really expensive without breaking the bank account. I want items that last, especially now that I have a second girl and without a doubt, their items last. I have so many pieces that have already been passed down to Eloise and they look brand new. I can’t sing their praises enough!

This year, their holiday line knocked it out of the park. Tartans, velvet, matching masks (hello 2020), hats, plaids, they really seemed to capture everything you want in your holiday outfits. Being a longtime fan, I truly can’t recommend taking a look at what they have on their website right now! It is Parisian chic! Which y’all know I love

Domusaurea Portraits Newborn Photos

True Story: I did my own newborn photos with Eleanor. I thought since was a photographer myself, I didn’t see why I needed to hire someone. While I love the photos and that Brice and I shot them ourselves, I always wished I had better ones of the entire family. So when Eloise was born, I knew I wasn’t going to make the same mistake. That was around the time the very talented, Renee, of Domus Aurea reached out to partner. Once I saw her beautiful and very professional looking photos, I knew this was my photographer.

Renee was amazing to work with. She was so patient (even when I had to feed Eloise half way through the shoot) and made the entire experience so enjoyable. Wrangling a two year old and a newborn was quite the feat but Renee never made me feel bad for all of the “whoops” that happened. Let me just say, Eleanor refused to take photos with anyone but herself for the first half of the photoshoot so I was worried we didn’t get any “usable” shots. I now laugh as I type that. Renee got so SO many usable photos that I cried when she first send them over.

I am beyond grateful for Renee and the magical photos she captured of my family. I know we will all look back on these and smile at all of the little things she was able to capture – like Eleanors squishy feet between the bars of Eloise’s crib. Photos are able to capture beautiful memories but they also have the ability to transport you back to exact moments in time. I will cherish these moments for the rest of my life!

True Story: I have always saved my money for nice accessories. I feel like you can buy inexpensive clothing and make it look expensive by adding nice accessories. When I first graduated college I was earning next to nothing. I decided to stop highlighting my hair (thank goodness ombre was trendy), I never got my nails done, and I ate at home a lot. I chose to save and spend when I saw a nice accessory or something that would last. I still have and love the YSL ring that I saved up for and “splurged on” during that time. This is why I always recommend investing in quality accessories, they last!

During quarantine I made an effort to dress up everyday. I bought a few inexpensive, comfy dresses from different shops but wanted a fun shoe to dress them up. I searched and searched for something unique, beautiful and quality. When my friend sent me the Alexis Isabel Uni sandal I melted. Not only was the color to die for, but each jewel is handset in Napoli, Italy. Does it get any better quality and craftsman than that?

I have already worn them multiple times and love them more and more each time. The Italian leather gets softer and more beautiful with each wear. I know I will have these for years to come and like a fine wine, they will just get better with age!
