‘Ello Mixing

Zara top (on major sale :: similar), Anthropologie shorts (similar), J. Crew bracelets, Ray Ban sunnies, Steve Madden shoes (similar)

Hmmm, where do I begin? First off, mixing patterns doesn’t scare me. I think some people are afraid to mix multiple patterns because they don’t know how to do it. For those who are nervous listen up!
Make sure one of your patterns is smaller than the other so it balances out. This is why polka dot and leopard are always a popular choice.
Stick with similar color tones or an item that has primary colors. I wouldn’t wear neon on neon unless I was going to a rave or pastel on pastel unless it was Easter…on second thought actually no, I wouldn’t wear those ever so scratch that. Leopard is great for mixing because it has the muted color tone already in it: cream, black, and brown…what doesn’t go with that? It might be your best option starting out and then the more practice you have the braver your choices can get!

  1. I totally agree with all of your tips on how to mix prints. I also recommend not over thinking it as well. Sometimes I just throw things together and they come out looking great!!
