C’est Bon

C’est Bon means, It’s Good. Often times french speakers use it during a meal, shopping, etc. but I am using it for this striped Dress. Not only did I wear it while running errands all over Dallas before leaving but it was a staple while I was in Paris. I wore it with sneakers, under a blazer, and over a button-up blouse. It is a classic closet piece that everyone needs! And don’t think it is only for summer, this fall/winter I am excited to pair it with stockings (I own these and love them), over-the-knee boots (just bought these for $80), and a duster coat. The other day someone told me they thought my style was east coast (which I almost died) because of all the stripes I wear. And all I could respond was, “Paris my dear, Paris.” It really is true the Parisians wear a lot of stripes and it was a trend I really didn’t mind adopting. Another trend I noticed which all of them wore – tucking their shirts into everything! Their shirts were fully tucked into jeans, skirts, and pants. I am not that brave yet (my butt isn’t so cute when it is fully exposed) so stripes it is!

Dallas Blogger Panel

I have received a good amount of e-mails from people over the years asking how to get started in blogging. I actually received so many, that after much consideration, I decided to start a blogging consulting business. I felt like my background working in blogging, social media, and with an affiliate network gave me enough experience to be able to lend a helping hand to those in need. From that, M.A.S. Consulting was born. I absolutely loved getting to meet you and help you start and grow your blog. I felt like I was really helping you propel your dreams forward. However, once the photography started taking off I had to make a decision on which one to keep and which one to let go. Over the years I have learned you can’t do it all. You must make decisions/sacrifices to be able to dedicate the amount of time it takes to fully grow a business and nurture your passions. Since I have a love for photography, I decided to dedicate my time there.

After a few months of slowing down the consulting side (I still keep a few clients) I continue to receive e-mails from readers who want to know the basics. I am happy to help and am also very humbled that you think to ask me. I still believe my mom is the only one who reads my blog so to have someone ask for my help is an amazing feeling. However, since choosing photography I feel badly I can’t dedicate as much time as I would like for each e-mail I receive. I genuinely wish I could hold all of your hands through the entire process and be your “go-to” person,  but there just aren’t enough hours in the day to do it all. That being said, a few months ago I was asked by the Dallas Blogger Collective to be on a blog “speed dating panel” where bloggers get five minutes with each person (brands, pr firms, bloggers, etc.) to pick our brains. Since I was receiving a decent amount of e-mails from readers asking questions about blogging and how to grow your blog I decided to say yes to the panel. Which I am really excited about and I can’t wait to meet all of you!

If you are in Dallas this evening from 6-8pm I hope you can join me and a panel of other amazing influencers. You have around 5 minutes to pick each of our brains which will hopefully inspire you and help answer all of your questions.

When – Tonight, April 16h

Where – ALTO 211 – Dallas, TX

Time – 6:30-8:30pm

I look forward to seeing you there!

Intelligent Dressing

Intelligent Dressing. Why on earth did I name this post that? Well, to be honest, I just thought the outfit looked intelligent. There is something about wearing a tie around your neck that lends to the belief – I went to an ivy league school. Okay, so not in real life. If it is anything like other college campuses, those kids are wearing jeans/work-out pants, t-shirts, and hoodies. But isn’t the make believe so much more fun? I have loved the tie on women look since seeing Elle Woods rock it in Legally Blonde. “What, like it’s hard?” Little early 00’s quoting! I am queen of dropping movie lines and annoyingly asking which movie it is from! Mmmm kay, back to the post. I have most recently been inspired by the tie after seeing it from the Saint Laurent runway show. It is so incredibly sharp and classic! And yes, it screams I mean business. This particular removable ASOS tie is under $10 and can pretty much work with any button-up. Just make sure you button all the way up to the top! Another awesome way to style this look would be with a wide leg pant, blouse tucked in, and tie around the neck. So chic!

side note – I am off to Houston for the weekend to help with my mothers non-profit – Grammy’s Cookie Convoy (check it out). She sends thousands of cookies to the soldiers overseas (5,000 at a time) as a “hug from home” so they know they are not forgotten! She is such an inspirational woman and I always get excited to help and also a little overwhelmed with emotion at the number of volunteers who show up to help and the stories they have of their own kin fighting overseas or personal stories of wars past. My mom is touching so many lives and I only hope one day I can be half the woman she is! Sorry, had to take a moment to brag about my mom and share her non-profit! She so deserves all of the accolades.
