Club Monaco faux leather shorts, Club Monaco t-shirt, Gianni Bini jacket (similar + similar), 3.1 Phillip Lim bag, Zara shoes, Glam Rocks + F21 rings,  J.Crew belt worn as necklace (similar), F21 sunnies, Revlon “Love That Red” lipstick

This “necklace,” you see in the pictures was an emergency addition to the outfit. I was originally wearing, this beautythat Molly was kind enough to let me borrow. I wanted to add a little length to it so Molly creatively used my gold belt to do so. The original LuLu Frost necklace was perfect and I was really excited to show off the look (seen here). Unfortunately, while at brunch I went to adjust it and it  broke. I felt so badly! No one wants to be wearing someone else’s belongings when they break. THE.Worst. She was super cool about it and we ended up having a fabulous brunch, but I kept wondering how I was going to accessorize this very simple outfit. I then remembered the belt Molly had used earlier. I clipped it mid-way to create a similar length as the one before. Lesson of the day: when in doubt, use the resources around you!

Tory Burch jacket (similar on major sale), Vince sweater, Club Monaco shorts, Zara shoes, Forever 21 sunnies, Dana Rebecca Necklace, 3.1 Phillip Lim bag

NYC Fashion Week was by far my favorite fashion week to date. Not that the others were bad but this one was really relaxed and I got to share it with three amazing friends; Molly, Sally, and Amy. The three kept me laughing the entire weekend and were the perfect travel buddies. I only hope we can plan another trip in the near future.

For this trip I only packed about four outfits for three days (brave I know). I planned to mix-and-match the entire weekend since most items were solid, basic, pieces. However, once I was there I felt overwhelmed by all of the really cool pieces I saw and thought my dinky, little outfit could not compare. Feeling a bit drab, I was pleasantly surprised when ELLE asked me to pose for a picture. In the back of my mind I knew they would never pick my basic outfit for their site but was flattered none-the-less. Yesterday morning, to my SHOCK, I was sent an e-mail from a fellow blogger, who saw my picture front and center on Elle.com. Can I say again, I.WAS.SHOCKED. It was such a fantastic “fashion life moment.” I guess it goes to show, never underestimate the power of solid basics and classic blacks and whites.

many thanks to the amazing Molly Miller for the photography

Lele Sadoughi – The Perfect Jewelry

Untitled-1

Lele Sadoughi stole my heart a few weeks ago when I came across her jewelry on the web. I immediately pinned every piece I could find. They are so unique and gorgeous that I knew I needed one, one day. With so many amazing choices it is hard to pick just one, but last night at a birthday party I came across, Sam, who was wearing two of my favorite pieces (this one and this one). They were so, absolutely beautiful in person, that now I KNOW I need them. Sorry if I copy you Sam, but the way they were paired together was just perfect!
