Best Photo Apps

Studio

For the past few months I have been really obsessed with finding new apps, particularly in photography . There are so many to chose from, and each does something different, I find myself taking one photo and running it through three applications. This is definitely not necessary as Instagram does just find on its own, but like the rest of my generation, my curiosity always gets the better of me. My favorite photo app for editing pictures is Afterlight. It has a wide selection of filters and adjustments which help photos stand out. For resizing a picture for Instagram (that damn square), I use Instasize. I have a bevy of other photo apps but these are by far the ones I use the most.

While roaming the Internet yesterday I came across Brittany Jepsen’s site, The House That Lars Built. Her latest posts was on none-other than a new photo app called, Studio. What a cool concept. In the past, if I want to write on a photo, I used A Beautiful Mess, but Studio allows you to add frames, textures, icons, and create your very own graphics. I would compare it to Photoshop for graphic designers. How cool is that? Brittany gives a detailed description on how to use it, here. This totally helped when I was creating the image you see above! Thanks girl!

Now that I shared some of my favorites, definitely let me know if there are any other hidden gems I am yet to discover! 🙂

I am in full fall mode. Over the weekend, the 90 degree weather cooled to a nice 70 degrees so I opened all of the windows, lit my fall candle, and decorated the house for my favorite holiday, Halloween (see pictures on Instagram). I can’t explain what this time of year does to me but all of my sense are in heaven. The smells are divine, the changing leaves are beautiful, and the cooler weather feels amazing. Every time I see or smell hints of fall the best memories come flooding in and I am instantly in my happy place.

All of this “fallness” leads me to this outfit. I have been saving it for a day that seemed appropriate and that day has come. With the combination of burgundy and yellow, it seemed so perfect to post on a day that I am really feeling the season. Burgundy is such a rich, classic color, it seems to come back year after year. I think it is a smart investment for any closet, which is why I picked some of my favorite pieces for you to shop below.

I love watching movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, An Education, and Scatter my Ashes at Bergdorf’s because you feel completely transported into this  plethora of everything amazing. The fashion and style in each leave you feeling happy and inspired. When I am watching them I feel like I am walking into a closet that I can choose anything I would like. Once the credits roll, I am immediately smacked back into reality and realize I am stuck with the closet of clothing I have built, not a mythical Hollywood stylist.

I never thought I would have the opportunity to walk in a store and hear someone say, “chose what you want to style an outfit.” I mean, this is every girls dream. This happened to me the other day when I was told I was part of a style competition (which I have promoted the past few days on the blog) with Neiman Marcus Cusp and Dallas based magazine, FD Luxe. The theme was Rocker Chic and I had the entire store at my disposal. Wait, say that again? Yes, the entire store was mine to style a look. Sticking with the theme Rocker Chic I stayed with neutral pieces, but I could have spent hours in their looking at all the rich colors for fall. MmmmMmmm

My fantasy ended within the hour and I was headed home, to my regular closet but the experience was amazing and I had a fabulous time! While my fantasy is over the competition is still going on. I am in second and could use your help! Voting ends tomorrow…eek! If you want to help (which I appreciate) you can click here. xx
