I have always been fascinated by photography. I have spent countless hours studying photographs of people, while considering the angles, the lighting, and the editing the photographer used. I love the fact that photography has the amazing ability to transport us to a different time, or place with one single shot.
It was not until I started blogging that I decided to take photography more seriously. With camera in hand, I started experimenting with photographs of my apartment, of friends, and family. It was after experimenting in this way that I realized my passion for photography. I have no formal training or background in this field, but I realize that passion can open your eyes to the impossible, so not only did I invest in the proper equipment I also spent the necessary time to learn everything I could to enhance the skill it takes to be proficient with this passion.
I enjoy, and appreciate the opportunity to photograph bloggers, couples, influencers who make an impact in their profession, families, and also lifestyle type setting. I take an individual approach to each person I photograph. I make every effort to embrace and highlight the focus of what they are trying to convey to their audience with each session.
I look forward to working together and capturing the potential magnificence of your moments through my eyes and the lens of my camera.
I love stacking rings. I think it is the quickest way to add a touch of “cool” to your outfit. My favorite go-to for these stackable rings is Glamrocks Jewelry. She was one of the first on the scene a few years ago and has made quite the name for herself. Her rings are dainty, light, and perfect- A daily wear! Kristen, of Glamrocks, has partnered with M.A.S. to offer one lucky winner all five of the rings pictured above. To enter, follow the instructions below…Ends March 3rd.
I am finally back in Dallas from NY fashion week (I hope you followed along via Instagram). What a whirlwind. A very fun whirlwind, but a whirlwind. I am taking the day off to catch up on reading, snuggle with my dog, unpack, do some laundry and get ready for my next travel destination! Molly and I leave this Saturday for our overseas travels. I can’t believe it is already upon us! I am getting so excited!!
Over the past few days all of us girls (Molly, Sally, and Amy) had some amazing chats about topics much deeper than fashion. One that hit home for all of us was how lucky we were to have each other; a core group of friends. After college all of my best friends moved away and I felt so alone. The ones that did stay were either busy chasing their dreams in graduate school, traveling, or found work friends to fill in the spaces. I felt so lost and was in a really dark place. When I am in this place I instantly blame the city or surroundings I am in. From that point on I planted the “I hate Dallas,” seed. It was there for quite a few years. I swore it was the city that was making me unhappy so I dreamed of other places to live; Paris, London, San Fran. Anywhere but Dallas. Fast forward a few years and I am now more than content in Dallas. It wasn’t the place I was living but the people (or lack there of) that I was surrounding myself with. After this past fashion week, I have really come to realize that I am so lucky to find a group of girls I love being around so much. It took longer than I would have liked but I finally feel so comfortable and relaxed knowing I have good (and extremely fun) people around me. I can’t say that I still don’t dream of moving to London or Paris, but that is why we have travel. Right?!
All rugs from the above collage can be found here, at One Kings Lane (sale ends Feb. 5th)
Last month I ran into a reader who mentioned that she wished I talked more about my home. She said I used to update you all on my findings and that was one of her favorite parts. Since she was so open and honest about what she liked, I thought I could be more open and honest about my home, interiors, and its daily struggles. I hope this is a refreshing break from my daily fashion posts. Shoutout to Kim. P! Thanks for letting me know what you like to read on M.A.S.
I have been on a serious effort to finish my house. I think it is because I work from home and I see it every day, that it drives me crazy it isn’t finished yet. I am usually super obsessive and won’t stop until something is finished. But with my home I have tried to take it day by day becuase I know it is something that takes time. Well, I am over that! I want it finished now. Every week there is a new task or decorating need. Last week, it was rugs. Oh, rugs! I went on a serious rug binge. I mean, I searched and searched for the perfect rug at the perfect price. I had finally found my perfect rug at West Elm, but then, I saw the price. YUCK! For the size I needed I would be paying close to $1K and that just wasn’t an option. Well my friends, where there is a will there is a way. Since I knew what I wanted, finding a similar should be easy. And it was! I picked up this shag Marrakesh rug (almost identical), you see above for my living room (50% off) at rugsusa last week- side note, all rugs are now 60% off! My goal was to make the living room feel a little cozier, so this shag was a little bit of an upgrade from the hide rug I showed you last year.
The biggest problem I am having with decorating my house is that all of the furniture belonged to the hubs before we got married. It is really nice furniture from places like, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and Design Within Reach, so getting rid of it is a bit hard. The issue- it isn’t really my style. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good modern piece, but we definitely need some patterns and “warmth” to the home. I have also been trying really hard to lighten up the house as it is pretty masculine right now. But all of this fighting with what I have is getting exhausting so I am ready to give into the dark and buy this Ziya rug for the entryway. Thoughts?!
My mission continues to finish the house. This week, the mission is art! I already scored this amazing piece for one of our guest bedrooms for 30% off! If you need any art be sure to check out art.com! Their sale ends today and how could you pass up 30% off framed art?! Lastly, before I leave you I wanted to share this amazing article I stumbled upon with 43 of the best home furnishings website. It helped a lot in my search. Each site is so different and offers such unique pieces. I hope it helps in your search!
