Nieves Lavi + Anthroplogie

This week’s In My Closet, is literally, in my closet. I received this beautiful dress in the mail a few weeks ago and oowed and awed over it! It is the proud product from the collaboration between New York-based contemporary design label, Nieves Lavi and Anthropologie. Nieves Lavi boasts cult followers like, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, and Kelly Ripa, so needless-to-say the collaboration was highly anticipated. AND.IT.DELIVERED. You all know I am usually not a pattern girl, always trying to stick with basics, but I loved how the colors and pattern-mixing went together so cohesively.  I haven’t had time to shoot this piece in an outfit but I was too excited not to share it!

Since I talk all the time on this blog, I thought I would let the experts tell you about all of the goodness this dress can offer: We can’t resist a dress that goes from al fresco brunch to evening soiree without missing a beat. Nieves Lavi’s silk shift plays it cool with beaded sandals by day, then dresses up with baubles and a shimmery clutch when the sun goes down.”

WEDDING :: COCKTAIL HOUR + RECEPTION DETAILS

Our wedding day was better than I could have ever imagined! From the venue, to our food, to the people who attended, it was my own personal dream come true. We kept it small enough to be really romantic and intimate but large enough to include our closest friends and family.
After getting engaged we flew to celebrate with Brice’s family who live in Switzerland. While there, I started googling wedding venues and came across one that took my breath away. I even said, “If that venue were in Texas, I would totally get married there.” Come to find out, it was! To make an educated decision, that I would have no regrets about, Brice and I visited a dozen of venues, only to leave feeling like they weren’t right. It was clear our venue had been chosen weeks before, in a sunroom in Switzerland. Villa Del Lago it was! The venue had everything we were looking for; you felt like you were worlds away from Austin, maybe tucked away in a Tuscan vineyard, and it was romantic, scenic, intimate, and absolutely beautiful.
Before we started planning we sat down and came up with three adjectives we wanted the wedding to be. It was funny because we both wrote down the exact same things; fun, memorable, and classic. It was really important to us for everyone to have a good time, but also make them feel like they were all part of one, big, family. We also wanted a wedding that would be chic and stand the test of time, so we chose to do an all white wedding with accents of gold. The simple color palette allowed the beauty of the venue and the backdrop of Lake Travis to really stand out. I was also dead-set on having a long, family-style, table. It ended up being perfect with our venue. If you let things fall into place, it is crazy how it really does all work out.

Must Have Jeans

Jeans. Oh, how I love jeans! Every wardrobe needs a solid few pairs that will get you through every season. I have compiled a list of five jeans I think are must-haves for any closet.

1. J.Crew super skinny ankle– Great with flats in spring or summer and boots in fall. (similar looks)
2. Rag and Bone black coated– go-to fall and winter jeans. They look amazing with a baggy sweater and flats or tucked into boots. The light coating adds a fresh pop to regular black denim. (similar looks
3. Zara light wash skinny– I love these rolled up in the spring or summer. The light wash and light material make it perfect for hotter seasons.
4. Rag and Bone flare leg (sold out but check out similar looks)- Who doesn’t love a good flare? You can wear them year round and they are flattering to all legs. This is my favorite flare I have ever worn!
5. J.Brand boyfriend cut – While the hubs doesn’t find boyfriend cut jeans very sexy, I think they are fun to wear when running errands, around the house, or lunch dates with the girls. They are a fun play on the slouchy, “I don’t give a care,” look. (similar looks
