This year has been a crazy (good) one for my family. We have welcomed two new dogs (Annie Hafner + Flash Miller), a son/brother-in-law (my hubs), and three beautiful little girls (Mary + Catherine Summers + Molly Miller). To say we feel like we have lived five years in the past 11 months is an understatement. Our hearts are so full of love and happiness that it is almost too perfect Thanksgiving is next week as we have so much to be thankful for.

Last week I mentioned exciting family news, and here she is. My sister gave birth to her beautiful baby girl on November 14th! I was devastated to not be at the actual birth, as I was flying back from Chicago (little Molly decided to come early), but I rushed to be by her side Friday morning. My sister is an incredible human being. She was always like a second mom to me; fixing my hair, playing dress-up, and full of advice. Growing up all of this attention would sometimes annoy me but as we aged I realized she was always there to nurture and love me. These qualities will no doubt make her the best mother in the world. She also married one of the best men I know, so I am certain little Molly is one lucky, lucky, little girl. As for me, I am so excited to be another “crazy auntie-M” to this beautiful baby girl. I almost couldn’t wait until today to post these pictures I snapped of her! Isn’t she perfect?! Annnnnnnd how beautiful is my sister four days after giving birth?! She totally has the new mother glow!

33 days until Christmas. Shop my holiday shop at the bottom of my blog or view gift ideas on my Pinterest. I will update this daily so be sure to check it as often as you can 🙂 Trust me, there are some great finds!

Quote Friday

Quote-Friday1

Oh ya, quote Friday is back and with a bang! I absolutely think perfection is overrated. Making mistakes is the best way to grow! And it usually always seems to work out in the end.

This past week I have been in Houston volunteering for my moms non-profit, Grammy’s Cookie Convoy. It is an amazing project that sends giant chocolate chip cookies to the soldiers overseas. It is crazy how a simple cookie, something we take for granted, means so much to the men and women serving. They always send notes saying how much it reminds them of home and boosts the units moral. I am so proud of my mom and everything her project is doing to help! For more information check out here Facebook page or website.

Best Photo Apps

Studio

For the past few months I have been really obsessed with finding new apps, particularly in photography . There are so many to chose from, and each does something different, I find myself taking one photo and running it through three applications. This is definitely not necessary as Instagram does just find on its own, but like the rest of my generation, my curiosity always gets the better of me. My favorite photo app for editing pictures is Afterlight. It has a wide selection of filters and adjustments which help photos stand out. For resizing a picture for Instagram (that damn square), I use Instasize. I have a bevy of other photo apps but these are by far the ones I use the most.

While roaming the Internet yesterday I came across Brittany Jepsen’s site, The House That Lars Built. Her latest posts was on none-other than a new photo app called, Studio. What a cool concept. In the past, if I want to write on a photo, I used A Beautiful Mess, but Studio allows you to add frames, textures, icons, and create your very own graphics. I would compare it to Photoshop for graphic designers. How cool is that? Brittany gives a detailed description on how to use it, here. This totally helped when I was creating the image you see above! Thanks girl!

Now that I shared some of my favorites, definitely let me know if there are any other hidden gems I am yet to discover! 🙂
