Home Touches – Personalized Guest Towels

I love entertaining! I love getting everyone together and planning out an evening of fun. The one tip I have learned about being a good hostess – always put your guest first. At any event the husband and I host it is important to us that we always think of the small details and make the guest feel special. So when we found out we were hosting my entire family for Easter, I knew it was the perfect time to update our guest towels. It wasn’t that they were old (I had actually bought the previous ones a year before) but that they didn’t feel special enough. For the longest time I have been wanting to monogram towels, robes, and slippers for our guest but have never pulled the trigger. This was the perfect kick in the butt I needed!

I decided to only monogram the towels Brice and I would use and do something a little different for our guest. Since I don’t want to splash our monogram all over our home, I decided to simply go with “guest” written on these turkish towels. Simple, personal, and universal. I love how they turned out and they were a big hit at Easter! I also purchased these “make-up only” towels for the girls. One of my biggest struggles when I am a guest somewhere where they only give you white towels is that I am so paranoid about getting anything on them I never fully use them.  That is why these are amazing and are the perfect touch to making your guest feel comfortable. Added bonus, they come in a pack of eight for under $30!

Pool Floats for Adults

Ah, the smell of summer: fresh cut grass, burgers on the grill, and that plastic smell from your new pool floaty. This is how you knew summer had truly arrived! I still remember visiting my friends house in Houston and this particular house always had the best pool floats. You remember, that really large whale (which was the only option in the 80s/90s) who took up half the pool and those colorful noodles. Ah, life was good! It has taken a solid 20 years for any new pool toys worth mentioning to come out but these retro/cool floats are back! Last summer when I was heading to Nantucket I searched and searched for the swan to bring and enjoy in the pool but to no avail. It was literally sold out everywhere. This year, I am not letting them slip away again. Now I just need to buy this hat, this book, and one of these floats and let summer slowly pass me by while I enjoy it from the pool.

Design Inspiration – The Parisian Apartment

There is something so beautiful about a Parisian apartment. How, even if it is completely empty it still possesses a chic and sophisticated feel. The beauty in their simplicity has always captured my heart. It is incredible to me how there is detail in every inch of the space. From the ceiling to the floors, nothing is left. Did I mention the floors? Oh, Parisian floors! They stop my heart from beating every time I look at them. The older I get the more I appreciate good interior decor and the little details that go into it. I find myself looking less at fashion and more at interiors, which is something I never thought was possible. Through the years my interior style has evolved and I am sure will continue to do so. However, after my new found love for Pinterest (I know, I am so late to the game), I can narrow my style down to three aspects: clean, minimal, and effortlessly sophisticated (see my home decor board here).

I gather inspiration from two styles – Parisian and Scandinavian. Both meld minimal and chic so perfectly together. I  love interiors which are well thought-out and strategic but look completely effortless. Like, “oh I just threw that blanket on the sofa in a hurry,” but really I spent a solid 30 minutes arranging it to lay exactly like that. Since I am in an, “I miss Paris” state of mind, my spare time has consisted of scrolling through Airbnb (love this placethis place, and this place) and Pinterest getting my fix of Parisian style. Until the day I can work with someone to create my “minimalist Parisian/Scandinavian masterpiece” I will continue to gather all necessary inspiration!
