Gstaad Switzerland :: Rialto

Gstaad is one of the most beautiful (and chic) places I have been. Walking the streets that Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, and thousands of other celebrities, royals, and diplomats have walked is always amazing to me. One of the first trips I ever took with the hubby was a road trip around Switzerland. One of our first stops? Gstaad. Being a small town girl I had no idea the clout this quaint town had. Walking the streets you feel you are a million miles from life – which I am sure is the reason it is a favorite amongst the elite. This past summer the hubby, myself, and my parents decided to take a day trip back to Gstaad and enjoy a nice summer lunch in the mountains. The air was crisp and the mountains were completely still – the perfect setting! We stopped off at Rialto and enjoyed one hell of a meal! Being gluten-free I am always a bit nervous to eat at restaurants as you  never know if you will be eating a side salad because nothing on the menu is G-free or if you are promised something is g-free only to receive it and it is covered in bread crumbs. Long story short, Rialto was none of the above! It was absolutely divine! While we all enjoyed our meals – the men enjoyed pizza and I enjoyed my greek salad – my mom won the ordering lottery with the pork! It was by far the best pork I have ever had! We all topped off the delicious meal with a few desserts that melted in our mouthes! If you ever find yourself in the mountains of Gstaad be sure to stop in Rialto’s!

Welcome to So Then They Say!

Welcome to my new site, So Then They Say! This has been a project I have worked on for the past five months and I am excited to finally unveil it! By now you all know why I made the name change (if you don’t catch up here), but I am ecstatic that the day is finally here and I can share all of the hard work with you. The talented Hanna, of Gadabout, has fulfilled every wish I could have imagined for this new journey. She was so amazing to work with and really took a vested interest in my vision for the site – and then took it to an entirely other level. She has such a creative eye and it was an honor getting to see her in action. She really is worth every bit of accolade! Keep her in mind for any website re-designs you may need!

While you are here, please explore the site and e-mail me (mary@sothentheysay.com) with any questions! It was my vision to make the site clean, user-friendly, and shoppable! You will see “The Find” in between each posts which is a place I am excited to update daily with fresh products, new designers, and this seasons must-haves! After you discover “The Find,” feel free to get lost on the travel page – where I will post city guides, travel essentials, articles, and more! I hope it is a place you can fulfill all of your travel needs! Lastly, I am so excited to reveal a custom shop page. I will also update this regularly with new sections (right now there is red, camel coat, and capes) so you can always have a place with a curated list of fresh picks to shop! But, if you are ever looking for something specific or have any ideas, again, please feel free to e-mail (mary@sothentheysay.com) I hope you enjoy the site and find everything you may be looking for!

On a side note – I am so touched by all of your kind words of encouragement over the past few years and especially the past few weeks! The time some of you took out of your day to comment or e-mail was something I will never forget! You all really know how to make a girl feel special and it means the world to me! Thank you!

Red Hot

Usually I surf the web for neutral colors and hit “add to cart” once I find the perfect black, white, or grey pieces, but lately I can’t get enough of red! I have always loved a good red lip but only recently re-discovered how much I love wearing the hue. Since my husband loves me in color I have decided to make more of an effort to add it to my closet – starting with red! What I love about red? It is bold yet beautiful, powerful, chic, understated (it isn’t hot pink), looks good on every skin tone, and makes you feel confident. You honestly can not wear red and not walk with your posture a little straighter and your head a little higher. It seriously brings out your inner Beyonce and that is enough for me! If you want to take the plunge into red hotness with me, check out my shop page! I have found a handful of red blazers sure to fill your needs. Why a blazer? Because you can wear it a million different ways and it is an easy transition into your existing wardrobe! See you on the streets, hotness!
