Five Things About M.A.S.

If you know blogging, you know the blog, A Piece of Toast. Not only is it one of my favorites to read but the girls behind it (sisters Molly + Sally) happen to be my good friends. When they tagged me in their “5 things you didn’t know” post, I was nervous and excited!
I love this blog to be an open book and I want you all to feel that you really know me but somethings are better left unsaid. I mean, do you all really need to know that I was pretty much mute until I was six? Probably not, but I figured I would give it a shot. After all the worst that could happen is A) you think I am a weird freak or  B) you feel more connected with me.  Fingers crossed it is B! Here goes…

ONE: I am a self-proclaimed chocoholic! I even have a Pinterest board in its’ honor. I seriously crave it so much that I went to a doctor to make sure it was normal. Come to find out, it isn’t! I was deficient in Chromium. Who knew!

TWO: I have a very active imagination and I think it is important to never lose it. Whether it is through vivid dreams, trying accents, or acting I am constantly using it. I believe the best way to stay young is to never lose what makes you, you. Sometimes that means using your imagination in a playful, goofy, way or using it to build your dreams. To me the most boring people are the ones who can not use their imagination and laugh at themselves which is why I love the quote below so much.

THREE: I have Juvenile rheumatoid Arthritis. I was diagnosed at the age of six and have been battling it since. At times it is very limiting but for the most part I am A okay! I usually don’t tell anyone about it but, hey, we are like family now! I would love to somehow get involved with the foundation one day but in the mean time I will share it here.

FOUR: I secretly wish I was a June Cleaver / walking Pinterest / Betty Homemaker.  They are everything I am not. I don’t enjoy cooking, I am terrible at organization, and my room normally contains a hodge podge of my life. I love girls who can store everything they own in cute little boxes that are labeled and displayed to perfection. My house is full of eclectic things that don’t match, I have papers strung across my desk, and the only thing I can cook well are eggs and grilled cheese.

FIVE: I hate showering. Not that I don’t do it daily or that I don’t love the feeling of being clean but I hate the process and then standing there wet and cold. Once your shower is complete you have to open the door to a freezing cold room, blow dry your hair (and mine takes FOREVER), put body lotion on, face lotion, hand lotion, lip moisturizer, and cuticle oil. I mean, it is all quite daunting if you ask me.

There are my five things! I must admit this was a little harder than I thought but a lot of fun in the end. I hope you all enjoy!

Now for the new victims; Sam, Megan, Becky, Danielle, Ashley, Bethany, Martha. TAG, YOU’RE IT!!

p.s. just found out the bookshelf above, which I swoon over daily, was designed by none other than the amazing blogging duo, Meredith + Gwyneth

BLACK, WHITE + RED ALL OVER

Black and white has always been my favorite color combination. When I was little I made my mom re-do my room so I could have everything black and white. Once I hit high school (like every girl) I became obsessed with Audrey Hepburn and how effortlessly she pulled this look off. Now that I am a little older and out of that faze I find ways to incorporate it into my life in a trendy but classic way. I still love black and white house decor (hence my obsession with these) but now that spring is here I am grabbing any striped black and white combo I can (hello, perfect TIBI dress). It easily transitions from day to night and happens to be one of springs hottest trend.

One thing all brides have in common is that we all want to look good on our big day. Unfortunately between a career change, a puppy, and planning the wedding I haven’t found much time to hit the gym. Like most people the hardest part for me is ‘getting there.’ Once I am there I am golden but something about “putting in the effort” is so hard. Thankfully my little Goldendoodle, Annie (who I have been wanting to introduce for a while) has been getting me outside for daily walks. These aren’t by any means cardio exsercise as she stops at every car, person, or leaf that rolls by but at least I take in the fresh air and a little vitamin D. She also makes it about two or three blocks so I end up carrying her back home (that is considered an arm exercise, right?!).
Since I was feeling so uninspired to hit the gym I thought I should get new clothes so at least I could look the part. I headed to Gap who has such cute, comfy, and inexpensive workout gear! I immediately called my mom and told her to head there for her next workout needs. She replied, “Gap? Workout gear? Who knew.” I did! And now you do too. It seriously is my favorite spot for the serious and not so serious gym rats, like myself.
This post was not sponsored by Gap, I just really love their line!
