DL1961 Denim

“I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity – all I hope for in my clothes.” – Yves Saint Laurent

The power of a great pair of denim is undeniable. The right pair of jeans can make you feel powerful, sexy, and confident all while being one of the most comfortable items in your closet. In today’s fashion world having a pair of perfectly fitted jeans is as important as having the ideal LBD. Jeans are accepted in just about every arena: parties, dinner, going out, movies, running errands, etc. So investing in a pair that fits just right is imperative.

Let’s get real. Denim is getting to be very expensive! I even saw a pair for $500 the other day. Jeans! $500. That is nuts! However, I do understand the need to spend a little bit more to get a great fit that lasts (inexpensive denim fades quickly and bleeds color on furniture and hands making it more expensive in the long run). Over the past few months I have seen the brand DL1961 DENIM popping up more and more in shops, online websites, and blogs. After checking out their website I fell in love with every single pair. They have created a great balance between classic and cool at an affordable price. I love all of their cuts (the Bardot is one of my favorites) and that each style comes in multiple different colors and options so you are guaranteed to build a closet full of denim you love.

If you are in the market for a new pair of denim, and let’s face it everyone is (or should be), I highly recommend trying DL1961 Denim. The style, the options, the quality, and the price make it a great spot to find your next closet staple! Browse their site or you can shop my favorite picks by clicking on the pictures below!

I have been wanting a simple black heel with two straps for the past few months. I have seen a few versions over the past few months but never fully settled on any one pair in particular. That is until I found this beautiful pair via J.Crew. The Lena Heel, as it is called, is the perfect addition to your collection. Minimal, versatile, classic, and gorgeous it is sure to mix with anything in your closet. I would wear this shoe with everything from a pair of baggy jean shorts to skinny jeans. There is something so satisfying when you buy a piece you know was a “smart investment”. Which is exactly the feeling I received when these arrived!

Tourist Outfit

tourist-attire-2

I recently read somewhere that when we travel, “we are all tourists, so get over it.” Honest and truthful. When I travel, especially to Europe/UK, I hate for people to know I am a tourists. I try to blend in as much as possible. One with the people. However, I have been told by my sweet, sweet husband that I scream American. Bah humbug! I don’t know what it is about the way we look, perhaps we do our make-up daily and that gives us away, but even I can spot an American from a mile away. Despite the bad portrayal we Americans get I always think we look put together and very maintained. It isn’t that I am not extremely proud of my heritage, because I am, but sometimes it is fun to play something else. Star in another role.

Even though it isn’t London or Paris a few weeks ago I was a tourist in New Orleans. I fully embraced my tourist persona and wore sneakers, comfy t-shirt, and breathable shorts so I could site-see all day without one single complaint. And it worked! Despite my efforts in the past to look fashion/cool to tour a new city I always lose site of what I am seeing because I am blinded by pain from those really uncomfortable shoes. Slowly but surly I am learning to embrace the comfortable look over the, “I totally live here and know all the cool cafes to eat at. Can’t you tell? Don’t I look like a local?” And you know what is even better? Half the time the locals know a lot of walking is involved and dress comfier than I do! If that isn’t enough to turn you into a comfy tourist dresser, maybe you are a lost cause. Just kidding! But I do recommend you buy a great pair of sneakers/flats (a pair that is comfy and cute) for this summers excursions! To make sure you are covered I found my 20 favorite pairs! I promise this will save your feet, your trip, and most likely your relationship!
