Have you ever seen the movie, An Education? It stars Carey Mulligan and is set in the suburbs of England in the 1960’s. The premise is about a girl (simple Carey) and how important marring a (rich) man was at the time, perhaps even above “an education.” The movie itself is incredible and one of my favorites but the fashion, oh the fashion! Beautiful gowns, furs, and lots of jewels. It really is stunning. However, when Carey is still a girl in school and not seduced by the older (and rich) gent her style is basic – less than the fabulous style she quickly becomes introduced to. However, I loved it and her simplicity: the plaids, the dark tones and basic coats. Of course everyone is drawn to the glam but it is hard to not fall in love with “simple Carey.” When I bought this outfit from Asos I figured it would be a really cute dress to layer under coats or over button-up blouses. When I tried it on I felt like I was transported back to An Education and I was one of “simple Carey’s” best friends. I know I am not dripping in furs or gorgeous jewels but the simplicity of it is exactly what I love most!

Such a cute dress! I’ve heard that Asos can run really small. What size do you normally wear in dresses and pants and what size do you wear in Asos?
I always size-up in dresses and pants seem to run normal. But everyone is right, you just never know with ASOS. Can be quite frustrating! 🙂 When in doubt size up! xo
These photos are amazing!!!
