Camilla and Marc Tunic Dress

You may not know but I have a love for tunic dresses. It started in 2012 when my friend Jena made me buy a Thakoon Addition caftan (here, here, here, here and here). I fought her hard on it but she insisted it looked great, so to the cash register I went. At the time I had no idea how much use I would get out of it. Fast forward a few years and I have worn it more than any other piece in my closet. There isn’t a party that goes by I don’t wear it. It has become somewhat of a joke amongst my family and friends. What I love most is that it is breezy and you can dress it up or down. I have worn it as a swimsuit cover-up and even to a fancy wedding.

When I realized I was wearing the seams out of the dress (literally) I decided it was time to invest in a new one. After a long search I bought the Camilla and Marc Diego Tunic dress. I have been a big fan of Camilla and Marc for years so buying something of theirs was a no brainer. I loved the pleating on the back of this dress and the neutral color really makes it wearable. It is the perfect “dress up or down” piece. Just like the original Thakoon caftan the price tag was more than I wanted to spend but knowing I will get A LOT of wear out of it, made it much more bearable. To be 100% honest, I have gotten more of my money out of my $600 Caftan than any other $50 dress I have ever bought so when you put it into perspective, it isn’t so bad. 🙂

It is seriously a great dress and it is already in my bag for my upcoming trip abroad. The only thing I would recommend is to size down. I ordered my normal size and it was a bit big (it is currently at the tailor being altered). Also, if you buy the dress here then the sizes are U.S. but if you buy it here they are Australian sizes, so pay attention!! There is a size chart which helps a lot!!!

Naturalizer Davenport Travel shoe

They say, “with age comes wisdom,” and I must agree. I definitely don’t have it all together or have all the answers to questions I asked myself 10 years ago, but what I do know, comfort is key! Especially when you are traveling. I have tried shoe after shoe trying to find that perfect mix between cute and comfortable. However, the challenge was harder than expected. I either went fore cute, and ended up with a million blisters, a bad attitude, and one very annoyed husband, or comfort, which looked a lot like a running sneaker. Basically, I didn’t think the perfect travel shoe existed.

After years of trial and error I finally found my perfect balance, The Davenport from Naturalizer. Naturalizer has been around for years and has always been known for their comfortable, durable product. However, I never found a shoe of theirs that fit my style or needs. Until now. Their new selection of shoes has everything, and more, for what you need. I love the Davenport and Kail (a less expensive and more comfortable version of the Vince). Their new styles have the same comfort but with a hipper, more modern look. From the moment I tried them on I was sold. The insides are very supportive on your arch and feel as though you are walking on a cloud, covered in gel. They are every travelers (or women’s) dream!

I have a big trip planned in a few months and the one item I KNOW will be in my suitcase, the Davenport! I (and my feet) can’t imagine walking, site seeing, or exploring in anything else!

Wynwood, Miami Outfit

At first I was unsure if I wanted to visit Wynwood during my last trip to Miami. For those of you who don’t know what Wynwood is, it is an area in Miami with loads of street art painted on buildings, fences, and sidewalks. Sounds pretty cool, huh? But to be honest, I am very weird about going to places that are “heavily trafficked and over Instagrammed.” And let me tell you, if you think South Beach has its fair share of photos, search #Wynwood on Insta. BAM! The saddest part is, people only Instagram this one particular rainbow wall. So for me, the only image I had of Wynwood was this one particular rainbow wall (which isn’t my favorite to begin with) and nothing else.

However, after chatting with a friend who told me there were a lot more options than that “one famous wall” I was sold on checking it out. And I am happy I did! Wynwood isn’t just that “one wall” it is tons of walls with incredible art, shops, and restaurants. Most people stop at the front, you know, after getting a photograph of the “famous one” but I recommend going deeper into Wynwood and really exploring the side streets. The art is amazing and you will get much cooler and more unique photos!
