At Home :: Malachite Curtain’s

Home-Curtain-Inspiration

My obsession to finish my house has continued.  You may remember my search for the perfect rug for my living room. Since I finally settled on a grey and cream zig-zag design, I am now focusing on curtains. I look at curtains all day, everyday! It is a sickness that won’t end until I decide on what to do. I really want to add some texture and pattern to the room (that is full of basics right now). In my search for the perfect mix or playful and chic I have become obsessed with all things malachite. Green is one of my favorite colors and when it is mixed with blacks and whites in the perfect pattern – what could be better. I have been drawn to little malachite accessories, like boxes, trays, and plates but now I am moving into fabric. I have ordered three fabric swatches from Spoon Flower and am eagerly awaiting their arrival. Since my windows go around the entire house I plan to only put curtains at the two which face the street. I think it will tie the area together and make it feel a little cozier.

I also plan to add a neon sign above the T.V. which I am currently having made. And I ordered these beautiful prints from One Kings Lane to go on each side of the windows. The best part of everything I have ordered? I can always find a place for the items to go. If I hate the drapes or paintings in the living room, I can just throw them in a spare bedroom – so I feel a little better about ordering all of these “final sale” items.  Everything is coming together, but it is a SLOOOWWWW process to get it exactly how you want it. Since the hubs and I are planning to be here for at least another year, I feel I need to finish it before I go insane. I am excited to keep you posted on the progress!

Romping Around

Black Romper (similar here, here, and here), J.Crew wool blazer (old but similar here and here both on sale, and hereAll Saints Keiko shoes, Ray Ban Aviator sunnies, Chanel bag, Herve Van Der Straeten bracelet

I love rompers! They are kind of like sundresses in the idea that you get one entire look without having to over-think it. I have a small collection of them but would love to add a few! I am really liking this Young Fabulous and Broke romper and this Cavalli one to my closet! I am also thinking of being adventurous and adding these two longer legged ones (in red Nanette Lepore + in black Ella Moss). They look really chic for a night out for drinks or dinner.

Speaking of the latter, I had a really fun time hanging out with Molly this past weekend; watching movies, drinking wine, sitting on my back porch catching up, and shooting our blog pictures. I always think she is one of the most talented photographers. She has studied the art and really taken the time to learn how to do it right. While I can’t wait to upgrade my camera I am starting small – with the lenses. She let me play with her canon 1.4 this weekend and it was so light and easy to shoot, I decided to take the plunge. I have been previously been using my Canon 50mm 1.8 + 85mm 1.8 (both are great starter lenses), and my Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L series (great for travel shots and home interiors but a bit heavy for simple outfit shots). Since this is the case, I will be selling my 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. If you are in need of either lens, please shoot me an e-mail at summersstylings@gmail.com and label it Lens.

Vince is one of my favorite brands. Their basic and minimalistic approach to fashion always nails it for me. If I could choose one brand to wear on the regular, it would be Vince! I love their new season items – everything from their crepe pant to their basic knit is flawless. While I think you should definitely check out their spring line (here or here), the shoes is what captured my heart this season. Man, oh man, they are pretty perfect! Everything from metallic flats, to strappy wedges, to monochromatic slip-on’s – perrrrfection!
