Wow…R.A.D.I.O. S.I.L.E.N.C.E. over here on M.A.S. lately. Terribly. I hope you are all still with me! After a month of travels I am back in the saddle and posting regularly. As bloggers it is hard to “walk away” from the blog but sometimes you just have to. Like any job, you need to take a break, re-energize, get re-inspired, and then jump back in. Here I am, jumping back in! I was surprised at how much I missed blogging while I was taking my break. It really energized me to pour my heart into this site and showed me just how much I love my job. I have a few tricks up my sleeve I hope to unfold very quickly but as my friend molly says, “a watched pot never boils,” so I must wait patiently until I can reveal them.  Eek, I hope you all like it! In the mean time I thought I would post a fun Rio inspired outfit! Since Rio will be my next travel re-cap I thought I would get you in the mood! oh la la!

In the summer I find myself overwhelmed with the heat. For those of you who live in states or countries that don’t reach 110 degrees, consider yourself lucky. I find myself wearing outfits on repeat from lack of inspiration because it is just so damn hot. When dressing in heat you only have a few things on your mind – is it cool enough, will it show sweat (so gross but so true), is it comfortable? Now, can you see any of the fashions elites asking these questions when getting dress? No! And that is because – living in the dead heat is not conducive to fashion. There are a few things I love in life and one of those is leather. I wear it whenever I can, however I can, and any color I can. It adds a certain edge to outfits that can otherwise be quiet basic. In these wretchedly hot months leather is not always the first thing I grab. Most of the time it is heavy, doesn’t breathe well, and black. may thru august = leather depression. In the past I have tried to just “tough it out” but it can get really hot and in the end I find it was never worth it. Being in this leather-less state can really leave a girl like me down. BUT, before you get to feeling bad for me just wait. When I stumbled upon this ASOS ballerina pink leather skirt I almost fainted (no, not really but great for dramatic flair). It was short (breathable), light colored, and still LEATHER (or pleather). This was THE skirt! Since it is getting unbearably hot in Dallas I paired it quite comfy but I can’t wait to wear it well into winter with a pair of over-the-knee boots and a baggy cable knit sweater. If this entire post teaches you one thing, I hope it teaches you patience. haha just kidding! But seriously, I found the answer to my leather questions. Thank you Asos, you made a very happy customer!

Stepping out of the norm here to bring you one crazy funky skirt! I had the time of my life in Brazil and was very inspired by all of the bright colors. They created such an energy that it was hard not to play along. To be honest, I could stick with basic colors for forever and be quiet happy, but I like to add in a few colorful pieces for the hubs. On our anniversary a few months ago we played my own version of the newlywed game. I say my version because I created the questions (sneaky sneaky)! One question being – what was your favorite thing I wore in the past few months. To my utter shock he said yoga pants and this really bright colored coral top I wear with them. Fall out of my chair..really?! That was your favorite? Not the beautiful dress I wore to a gala where I spent hours on my hair and make-up? WORKOUT PANTS AND A WORKOUT TOP. I was pretty surprised, as you can tell, so I asked him why. He said it was when I was at my most natural state and he loved the bright color. awwww. Ever since he told me that, I purposely wear bright clothes for him. Sometimes, you have to please the man! So when I saw this Peplum skirt on ASOS I knew this piece would be perfect! It had the Brazilian flair I had come to respect as well as the bright colors he would love. It was way out of the ordinary but for some reason I just couldn’t let it slip. I plan to stick with my basic, neutral colors but every so often I might surprise him and you all with some POPs of color!

Bienvenidos! What a whirlwind the past week has been! I just arrived back in Dallas from Rio and ran to the computer to do a post! Please forgive me in advance for any miss spellings, wrong grammer, or jumblings – jet lag is a bitch!

I had such an amazing trip. One I will never forget. From being at the world cup, to seeing Rio, feeling the Brazilian energy, swimming on the beaches, and experiencing new things – this trip is one for the books! I am off on another big trip this week so do stay tuned!

Before I leave you I had to talk about the amazing bracelets I am wearing in today’s post. I love wearing pieces that have a special meaning or bring purpose to your daily life. If you are like that too, you will love BuDhaGirl. They describe themselves as a, “story of awareness and new beginnings – a vehicle made-up of beautiful objects and jewelry for bringing the mind back into balance and focus.” Isn’t that so beautifully said? Each of their products is to either be a reminder or to bring awareness to your daily life. The gold bangles I am wearing above are called “intention bracelets” and each onrepresents an intention for the day. As you put them on you think about and reaffirm your nine intentions for the day and then as you take them off at night you think of your nine thoughts of gratefulness. Don’t you just love it? I have been doing it the past few days and it really adds so much positivity to the start and end of your day. When you are forced to be aware of nine things you are grateful for that day, negative energy has a funny way of disappearing. Definitely a little food for thought on this Monday morning…On that, I bid you adieu.
