I have always been fascinated by photography. I have spent countless hours studying photographs of people, while considering the angles, the lighting, and the editing the photographer used. I love the fact that photography has the amazing ability to transport us to a different time, or place with one single shot.
It was not until I started blogging that I decided to take photography more seriously. With camera in hand, I started experimenting with photographs of my apartment, of friends, and family. It was after experimenting in this way that I realized my passion for photography. I have no formal training or background in this field, but I realize that passion can open your eyes to the impossible, so not only did I invest in the proper equipment I also spent the necessary time to learn everything I could to enhance the skill it takes to be proficient with this passion.
I enjoy, and appreciate the opportunity to photograph bloggers, couples, influencers who make an impact in their profession, families, and also lifestyle type setting. I take an individual approach to each person I photograph. I make every effort to embrace and highlight the focus of what they are trying to convey to their audience with each session.
I look forward to working together and capturing the potential magnificence of your moments through my eyes and the lens of my camera.
Rocks and books have a very successful relationship history. Not only are they great for acting as bookends but they also look great on top of a stack of books. If you have a shelf, corner, bookcase or nightstand that needs a little jazz in your home, look no further than these two lovers!
Growing up in school I was always the book covering whiz. I could cover a book in 5 seconds flat. A seriously cool trait that I was quite proud of. I mean, having a book that was neatly covered was important to me. It was an accessory that went with the rest of your outfit. Sloppy book = sloppy look. I couldn’t have that. I was also always paranoid of damaging the book and having to pay for it at the end of the year. Again, seriously cool trait. I never bought special paper to cover the book, I always used the back of the typical cover they gave us. They were always neat, all white, and clean. No fuss! Fast forward almost nine years (yikes has it been that long) and I needed a new and fresh way to spruce up a few empty spaces in my home. Oh, and I wanted to do it low cost (you’re welcome hubby).
Being the self-proclaimed book covering expert that I am, I had an idea. I could go to the half-priced books, buy as many $1 as I could, and then cover them with beautiful paper. Done and done. I have been obsessing over Malachite for months and since the hubby vetoed me making curtains (for now) I had a brilliant idea – book covers! I first searched for malachite wrapping paper and settled on this beautiful print from Spoonflower. The paper itself is stunning and really sturdy! I definitely feel like I got my money’s worth. After purchasing that I thought it would be cool to mix the Malachite print with a stripe (I LOVE stripes) and purchased a roll of that from Zazzle. I was set and so excited to get this project started – which is extremely rare because I HATE crafts (little known fact).
When the paper arrived I cleaned off my counter and started to cover some books. Only one minor problem – okay the entire project – but I totally forgot how to cover a book. After a few you tube videos and a few books that look less than perfect I got back into my groove. I was so frustrated because I had just learned how to wrap a great book again and I was on my third to last one. Uhg! I placed the books throughout the home (some examples above) and am feeling really great about my day of crafting! They added so much pop and pattern to the rooms and I believe I spent a total of $50. You couldn’t even buy ONE accessory for that! Proud moment in the Hafner House!

There are a few things I have to have around the house, two being candles and beautiful scents. I am a sucker for any house that smells fresh, clean, and beautiful. If you come to my house there isn’t a room or corner that doesn’t either have flowers or candles. I am that obsessed with smell! During different seasons I become turned onto different smells: winter = pine, fall = spice, spring = floral, summer = clean/fresh. This “smell schizophrenia” can make it hard to accommodate but luckily there are brands like LAFCO who fulfill my needs.
I am embarrassed to admit I first heard of LAFCO or Luxury Articles & Fragrance Company, a handful of years ago while watching the documentary, The Oprah Effect. It was really interesting to hear the brands who grew exponentially after being mentioned on her list of favorite things. Since it was a company based on candles and scents I knew I needed to check it out. Luckily, Oprah was right! This place was a haven of beautifully curated smells. Everything from their lotions to their candles were perfect! Even better was that they had a wide variety of scents tailored for anyone’s preference.
Discovering LAFCO a few years ago was a game changer for my home! Not only do I have them in every room but I now am stocking up on their hand wash and lotion (Fleurs de Bais is my scent of the moment). My house is not the only one immune to all LAFCO products – I love giving them as gifts! Who doesn’t want a beautiful scent in beautiful packaging to fill their home? P.s. there are SO many ways to use their jars when you are finished – more to come on that!
For all of my Dallas readers who love LAFCO as much as I do, there is an event this Friday, May 2nd at the highland Park location! They are unveiling their new Santa Maria Novella collection. Santa Maria Novella is one of the worlds oldest pharmacies and was established by Dominican monks in the 1200’s and still resides in Florence, Italy. Seriously cool stuff! If you stop by be sure to let me know what you think!
