I have always been fascinated by photography. I have spent countless hours studying photographs of people, while considering the angles, the lighting, and the editing the photographer used. I love the fact that photography has the amazing ability to transport us to a different time, or place with one single shot.
It was not until I started blogging that I decided to take photography more seriously. With camera in hand, I started experimenting with photographs of my apartment, of friends, and family. It was after experimenting in this way that I realized my passion for photography. I have no formal training or background in this field, but I realize that passion can open your eyes to the impossible, so not only did I invest in the proper equipment I also spent the necessary time to learn everything I could to enhance the skill it takes to be proficient with this passion.
I enjoy, and appreciate the opportunity to photograph bloggers, couples, influencers who make an impact in their profession, families, and also lifestyle type setting. I take an individual approach to each person I photograph. I make every effort to embrace and highlight the focus of what they are trying to convey to their audience with each session.
I look forward to working together and capturing the potential magnificence of your moments through my eyes and the lens of my camera.
HI, HOLA, BONJOUR, HALLO, CIAO, HEJ, OLA! WHERE DO I BEGIN WITH THIS ABOUT ME? I STARTED BLOGGING IN 2011 WITH ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS. AFTER REALIZING WE WERE BOTH IN NON-CREATIVE JOBS THAT WE COULDN’T STAND, WE BOTH DECIDED WE NEEDED A “CREATIVE OUTLET” – BET YOU HAVE HEARD THAT BEFORE. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, WE STARTED OUR FIRST BLOG SO THEN THEY SAY OUT OF OUR TINY APARTMENT IN DALLAS AFTER A FEW GLASSES OF WINE. ISN’T THAT HOW ALL CREATIVE THINGS FIRST HAPPEN?
She was the cool music and quote guru and I was the fashion. Ying to the yang. After writing together on So Then They Say for over a year life sort of got in the way and we decided it was time to part ways and chase our individual dreams. I, started my own blog M.A.S. Fashion, and she, went to study for her Masters in psychology at SMU.
M.A.S. Fashion started because I wanted a place that was personal and unique to my own style. I used my own initials (mary alyssa summers), because that is about as personal as you can get, and then used fashion because that is what I wanted the blog to be about. Silly me! After two years of blogging on M.A.S. I hit an inspirational rut! I still loved fashion but my passions grew way beyond just posting what I was wearing. In those two years I got married, got a dog and a house, started blogging full-time, and travelled an insane amount! Life had certainly changed since I decided to write “only about fashion.”
Travel has always been near and dear to my heart. The feeling of being stuck in one place for too long has always given me great anxiety. I was the one who hated signing a year lease because, “you never knew where life would take you.” Or the one who was writing out lists of places I wanted to live instead of taking notes for the next exam. The older I get the more I realize just how much travel means to me. It isn’t something I think we should all do because “everyone needs a vacation,” it is something my veins crave. Something my entire being needs. And something that has become extremely important to me. So sticking with “just fashion” wasn’t fulfilling my “creative” needs anymore. And here we are. Full circle! I decided to get back to my original name because after all, life happens, passions change, and curiosity grows. So then they say….
