If you know blogging, you know the blog, A Piece of Toast. Not only is it one of my favorites to read but the girls behind it (sisters Molly + Sally) happen to be my good friends. When they tagged me in their “5 things you didn’t know” post, I was nervous and excited!
I love this blog to be an open book and I want you all to feel that you really know me but somethings are better left unsaid. I mean, do you all really need to know that I was pretty much mute until I was six? Probably not, but I figured I would give it a shot. After all the worst that could happen is A) you think I am a weird freak or B) you feel more connected with me. Fingers crossed it is B! Here goes…
ONE: I am a self-proclaimed chocoholic! I even have a Pinterest board in its’ honor. I seriously crave it so much that I went to a doctor to make sure it was normal. Come to find out, it isn’t! I was deficient in Chromium. Who knew!
TWO: I have a very active imagination and I think it is important to never lose it. Whether it is through vivid dreams, trying accents, or acting I am constantly using it. I believe the best way to stay young is to never lose what makes you, you. Sometimes that means using your imagination in a playful, goofy, way or using it to build your dreams. To me the most boring people are the ones who can not use their imagination and laugh at themselves which is why I love the quote below so much.
THREE: I have Juvenile rheumatoid Arthritis. I was diagnosed at the age of six and have been battling it since. At times it is very limiting but for the most part I am A okay! I usually don’t tell anyone about it but, hey, we are like family now! I would love to somehow get involved with the foundation one day but in the mean time I will share it here.
FOUR: I secretly wish I was a June Cleaver / walking Pinterest / Betty Homemaker. They are everything I am not. I don’t enjoy cooking, I am terrible at organization, and my room normally contains a hodge podge of my life. I love girls who can store everything they own in cute little boxes that are labeled and displayed to perfection. My house is full of eclectic things that don’t match, I have papers strung across my desk, and the only thing I can cook well are eggs and grilled cheese.
FIVE: I hate showering. Not that I don’t do it daily or that I don’t love the feeling of being clean but I hate the process and then standing there wet and cold. Once your shower is complete you have to open the door to a freezing cold room, blow dry your hair (and mine takes FOREVER), put body lotion on, face lotion, hand lotion, lip moisturizer, and cuticle oil. I mean, it is all quite daunting if you ask me.
There are my five things! I must admit this was a little harder than I thought but a lot of fun in the end. I hope you all enjoy!
This is SERIOUSLY so cute Mary!! I LOVE it!! I wish I was ORGANIZED too, but I’m the opposite!! Tee hee! Need to get started on my five things! 🙂
xo, sam
Reading numbers 4 and 5 are like reading my own thoughts (except the one time I made grilled cheese, I drowned it in olive oil). Glad to hear I’m not alone! xxEmily

Loved reading this, and Gwyneth and I were so excited to see our bookcase included in your post! Surely that photo is representative of the “eclectic mix” you mention and not the “organized perfection!” Because our place is far from that! Thanks again!

Had to smile at the last one…I seriously HATE showering too! Washing/combing/blow-drying/straightening my hair is the WORST and takes about an hour and a half to two hours. If I could completely avoid showering forever, I would…but baths? Bring ’em on! They are my favorite way to relax.
LOVE THIS! I’m so excited to be tagged… now the pressure is on.
p.s. – i am 100% with you on #4. i am the queen of setting unattainable aspirational living goals.

This was so fun to read! Thank you so much for sharing. I love these quirky little facts.
Have a great day!
YAY! Loved reading you’re 5 things – all things I didn’t know about you and I couple I totally relate to (chocolate addiction and anti-showering process). Thanks for playing along :))
Love you!

AHHH! I’m taking you up on your twitter tag—here goes nothing!
And I’m the way with showering. It takes me at least 15 minutes to shave my legs, I don’t feel like my conditioner works unless I let it sit for 3 minutes, and the blow drying/ getting ready process takes 10x as long when I’m soaking wet. Hours out of my day! PS I’ll be in Dallas at the end of April with Ashley, MUST GET DINNER.

Ooh how fun!! Very interesting facts too, mine are going to be so boring..
I didn’t know you could get RA at that young of an age. And I agree on showering, haha. Once I’m in there I’m good but the prospect of getting out and being cold bugs me
