When drinking I love anything refreshing. If I see cucumber or basil in a cocktail, that is always the one I choose. Since it is officially summer here in Dallas I wanted to find a drink recipe that would be light and refreshing but still super easy to whip up. I immediately went to my “Cocktail Buzz” folder in Pinterest to see what I had pinned that fit the bill. Of course I was immediately draw to this Basil-Cucumber cooler from Skinny Taste. It looked easy enough, was gin based (my favorite), and seemed easy on the sugar and calories. Done and done.
I decided to stray from my usual go-to, Hendricks Gin, and try Zephyr. I had recently met the owners of this local gin company and was really impressed by their eye for detail and quality. Considering the meaning behind their name and that their tag line on their website is, “We believe those who dare to depart from the well-worn path will discover remarkable things in all aspects of life,” I knew it would be a match made in heaven. (Zephyr comes from the west wind that always carried people to new and interesting worlds).
When it comes to gins I am a heavy Juniper and Elderflower fan. I want lots of floral notes! Zephyr was super smooth and had a touch of botanical notes, which I loved. It is a new favorite and was delicious in this cocktail recipe. HOWEVER, if basil and cucumber isn’t your thing, Zephyr has numerous cocktail recipes on their website. I have actually tasted all of them but have to say their “Last Word” was probably my favorite!
Love this. I’m coming over next time I’m in town for cocktails. xoxo-Ash
