Oui Please

oui-please

I love travel and I love Paris. Those two things are a brainier when it comes to pleasing me. People always ask what I love most about Paris and it is always the same answer – the architecture, the romance, the atmosphere, the cafes, and the local shops. I love walking the streets and popping into random stores or cafes along the way. There is nothing better than finding the perfect item in Paris. It just holds so much more weight than say, if you bought something similar in NYC. “No, no, this item came from Paris.” Doesn’t it just sound better? But since I am 27 and don’t have millions in the bank, I can’t always jet off to Paris whenever I would like. Really, such a shame! But now, I, and you other French lovers, can have the next best thing, Oui Please – a carefully curated box full of items from France.

Oui Please comes from the makers of BeFrench (another site I love). Each delivery is a different experience from various regions in France. So you don’t only get the best from Paris but from all over France. I just received my first box and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint. Everything from a sweatshirt from Les Petities, shower gel from Sothys, a bag from 1951 Maison Francaisecrackers from Marlette, and so, so much more! Each box is valued at over $400 (but you pay far less) – which is much cheaper than that $1500 plane ticket you were just looking at! While there is no replacing the actual experience of visiting France, Oui Please is definitely the next best option! Consider it for yourself or as a gift for that person in your life who can never get enough of travel or France!

All White Everything

I was always scared to wear whites past labor day. I literally grew up thinking it was a sin but the older I get the more I realize how chic white is. I took the plunge last year and wore a similar outfit to this you see here at fashion week (seen here). After taking the first plunge (which is always the hardest) I wasn’t so scared to wear white and have been wearing it ever since. It is extremely chic and super easy to pull off. I know some of you out there are scared to wear white because you think it makes you look bigger but I am here to say, done correctly, it is extremely flattering. It is all about the fit – tailoring is key! I repeat, tailoring is key! For this look I went super slouchy all over but with the sneakers it is okay. If I were to wear white to a Christmas party I would choose a much more skinny, tailored look. Another key point is to make sure the winter whites are near the same tone. This creates an elongated look all over! Once you have your  base, throw on a beautiful coat and you are good to go! White jeans, pants, or skirts with a white sweater or blouse is possibly the chicest holiday choice! Don’t be afraid, you can do it! The first jump is always the hardest!

My New Favorite – Ellie Jay Jewelry

There is no denying how much I love dainty jewelry especially when diamonds are involved. Being 27 and (kind of) newly married I can’t always buy the pieces I want because of that dreadful ‘B’ word… Budget. I love diamonds and have always turned my head when people say they are only for older women. Who are you and why would you ever say that? However, I began to believe this saying when I realized those are mainly the age group who can afford them. A few years ago I had the bright idea to buy my mom and I skinny, pave diamond bands which we would wear together. I saved and saved for these bands and when the time came I started shopping around. OH MY GOSH was I in for a surprise. I had no idea what these jewelers were charging for such a simple band but my eyes were opened. I eventually found the right bands but for way more than what I thought I would be spending.

Fast forward and about a year ago while visiting my friend Jena, of Chi City fashion, in Chicago I kept noticing her amazing rings. I finally couldn’t stand it any longer and asked who made them. She said they were by a local shop called, Ellie Jay. I began googling immediately. I was not only blown away by her beautifully curated collection but also the pricing. If I had known about Ellie Jay when shopping for my  mom and I, I would had saved a lot of money! I had no idea such pieces existed.  Jami, the owner, has a keen eye for dainty, youthful pieces that won’t date.

One thing I love about Jami is that she makes her jewelry extremely accessible. She offers many different ways to get involved with her line – from hosting a party to being an ambassador. After exchanging e-mails with her, I and my bestie Molly – who also has an affinity for dainty jewelry, decided to host a trunk show in Dallas. We were so excited to introduce such an amazing brand to the Dallas market and show others that such lines exist. Her pieces were a hit and everyone walked away in awe of how beautiful they were especially for the prices she was offering. I really hope you explore her site and find a piece that you can cherish for forever or find that perfect gift for the special woman in your life!
