M.A.S. Fashion Video Ep. 1 :: Fall Fair Fun

Do you ever tell yourself you are going to do something and have every intention of doing it, but it takes forever to actually get it done? Oh, that is called procrastination?! Yes, I am queen of that!  Procrastination is the perfect word to use when talking about adding video to my blog. I have wanted to add it to my site for years now, but I kept slacking when it came to actually doing it. Either I couldn’t find the right videographer or the right time. I even had numerous failed attempts at doing it myself, only to be left disappointed by the quality.

The other week I was at my computer and something came over me my intuition kicked in and told me to search the web for a camera man. I stumbled upon a site that let me e-mail the specifics of what I was looking to a database and the right guy would, “e-mail be back.” The right guy ended up being about 30 e-mails from all videographers in the area. After much back and forth, details, and pricing, I went with Adam from Lightscape Multimedia. He e-mailed me saying how excited he was to work on this project and how he had creative ideas he wanted to present for my fashion video. HE, had creative ideas! Wam, Bam! I was done. He was my guy. Isn’t it funny how sometimes it is always about timing? I feel the whole thing was serendipitous.

After several phone calls on creative aspects we finally got to filming on what would be an entertaining but long Sunday afternoon. I absolutely loved working with Adam and the Lightscape media team. They were so professional, very detail oriented, and made me feel at ease the entire day. Really a dream to work with. This is the first of what I plan will be a monthly series. We have some really exciting ideas up our sleeves so we hope you continue to check back.

For this first video we wanted to “introduce” me and my style. The future ones will be more style focused. That being said, I really hope you enjoy watching this one as much as we enjoyed making it. Please feel free to comment or e-mail me what you liked or would like to see in future videos.

Merci et amusez-vous

Bar’s Around the House

Placing mini bar’s around the house will help fill space, make your guest feel welcome, and make each room feel unique.  I made each bar different, depending on what type of room it was in. For the guest bedroom with more neutral and “manly,” decor I put an orange tray to give it a pop of color and then filled it with a whiskey tasting set, whiskey, gin, scotch and other drinks that fit the aesthetics. For our other guest bedroom, which is all white, I put an acrylic tray and a few mini bottles of champagne and gold rimmed champagne flutes. It gives it a feminine touch without going overboard. And for the living room, since there is a steady flow of different genders, I went with a chrome colored butler stand and tray, to remain gender neutral, and mixed it with a wide variety of choice. (am i making us sound like alcoholics? oops)

I love having people over and being able to walk to the bar to offer them a cocktail. While this bar is only temporary (we eventually want to build one next to the kitchen) it serves its purpose. If you have an awkward space in a room, try filling it with a little bar. You won’t be disappointed.

M.A.S. Interview’s :: Jena of Chi City Fashion

M.A.S.-Interviews-Jena-Chi-City-Fashion

I don’t even know where to begin with Jena of Chi City Fashion. I guess at the beginning. I met her on a trip to Chicago and we instantly hit it off. Both in similar situations personally and professionally, we bonded instantly. Fast forward a year and she came to visit Dallas. I was so excited to see her, the entire way to the airport I was giddy. In true “Jena” form she wheeled her bag out and greeted me in bright clothing, fun glasses, and the graffiti Proenza Schouler bag. total girl crush!

We had an absolute blast that night catching up over drinks and queso. I found us laughing at anything and everything (don’t you love those kind of friends). I was so pumped for the next day full of shopping, more food, and lots of laughs! Did I mention she is the “friend” I spoke about last week who talked me into buying this dress?

Do you ever have those people you meet and feel like you have known them before? That is Jena. She is so easy to talk to, down to earth, caring, and a ball of fun (which you can see from her photos ). She beats to her own drum and lives life colorfully, this is why she is this months, M.A.S. Interviews!
