LET THEM EAT CAKE

It is crazy to think that with a little over two months the wedding is pretty much all planned. I asked my wedding planner, “Now what do I do?” She responded with a very sweet, “You wait.” EEEEKKKKK! Waiting has by far been the worst part. I am so ready to get this, “show on the road.” (thanks Annie Banks MacKenzie).
Before we can enjoy all of the planning we do have a few things left; bridal portraits, hair and make-up run through, and designing the cake. I have never been the girl who had all the details of her wedding planned before ever getting the ring, so when I finally was engaged it was all a bit overwhelming.  Knowing, from previous events, I don’t like fuss or over design, I went with simple, classic, and elegant which is what I have in mind for the cake. I originally thought to just have the cake and no floral but after seeing these pretty pictures I think my mind has changed. I love the timeless, feminine, touch and what girl wouldn’t want that on her big day?
What are your thoughts? Floral, no floral? Smooth or textured? decor on the cake, or no?

  1. For you, I would definitely say smooth (without actually knowing you 🙂 but just from your style and design aesthetics). And YES on the flowers!! A simple white can look super elegant without making it to “fussy” or girly! Can’t wait for you to share what you end up deciding on!!

    1. You are SO right!!! I loved your comment and thought you were spot on! Definitely like the clean and sleek look 🙂 Thanks for helping! I think the smooth will look elegant and then add a little flower=no fuss! 🙂

  2. Oh, wow! That top cake is my fav! Peonies and hydrangeas…perfection. The simple beaded trim at the bottom is a nice finish! Congrats! I’m sure your wedding will be amazing!

    1. I think that is my favorite as well! So classic and simple! I am glad to hear you liked the beaded trim. I wasn’t sure about it but now I agree with you! It is a great little touch.

  3. My favorites are the first two. I love how the first layer of the cake in the first picture is finished at the bottom. You could minimize all the floral if you want…but it looks good & with the flowers no texture is needed. The second one looks like your Grandparent’s Cake Topper, except theirs was made out of procelain china, not paper. 🙂
I like the simplicity of the three roses and how that cake is textured. The texturing balances the minimal flowers, so those two are my favorites. It is going to be beautiful whatever you decide. oxoxo

  4. You know me Mary I am all about simplicity and minimalism so I am going to have to go with the non textured cake with elegant finishes.

  5. These are all so beautiful! I love the ruffled-looking one with the simple white roses paired in threes. I can’t believe that you are getting so close to the big day…so excited for you!

  6. I LOVE no texture with floral! I went to a wedding a few months ago in Savannah and saw the most gorgeous cake – it was smooth texture with 2 magnolia flowers on it. I always thought my taste was a more traditional looking cake, but this one definitely made me think differently! ….now I’m hungry! haha
